John Boehner Is Done Being Nice About The Unemployed

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner's Thursday lament that unemployed people think they can "just sit around" instead of working shows how much the political conversation about the economy has changed.

All year long, Democrats have bashed the Ohio Republican for his callous indifference to the plight of the long-term unemployed, who Democrats have insisted aren't lazy.

And in dozens of interviews with HuffPost, unemployed people themselves have said they resent any implication they're not trying to find jobs.

"The job market here is fierce, and when politicians refer to us as lazy and not willing to work, it's just like a slap in the face," Lisa Millard, an unemployed Las Vegas casino worker, told HuffPost in July.

I think the leader, of the most useless house in the history of the country, has an irony problem. He actually accuses others of being lazy, while being on another vacation until a week after the election. WTF is that?

When they believe that when Congress is not in session they are on vacation. They are back in their district where they belong. Republicans used to say the same thing during House Leader Pelosi's time. Both wrong and uninformed. Same folks who can't name a branch of our government. We are so doomed!

7. Back in their districts, where they belong?

They only belong there as long as it takes them to learn of substantive issues. If they ever came back to Washington with real bills, and passed them, I'd agree that these recesses were a vital part of a functioning democracy.

But they don't. For a party trapped by its dogma, recesses are just opportunities to dund-raise more shamelessly.

They have passed tons of bills and the Senate stopped them from being voted on. I don't want them in session if they aren't going to pass bills that help the American public.

Such as regulating usage of credit history for hiring, ads telling the unemployed to not even apply, or supporting an employer of last resort (Such as a new CCC).

At least when Congress isn't in session they aren't messing up things more than they already are.

He and his ilk hate the poor and underemployed and unemployed. He hates and that is the truth.

Let us get out the vote, and show him what he really is. The arrogance of this statement is disgusting

See how he likes going in to a black hole of non-responses to hundreds of applications.

The only thing I've been able to mooch off for the last 8 months is my own savings. Thankfully I had more than 3 month cushion but it is rapidly looking very thin.

If I don't get a job by Nov 1st I'm in serious trouble.

Thanks a lot Boner.

Goes to the polls today in the most important election in decades. At stake is the current right wing party getting re elected for a 3rd term.
The party of bashing the poor. There is a serious debate here about child poverty and the income gap where our current leaders have refused to sit down with opposition parties to discuss poverty.
Kind of ironic that the PM and 1 other minister is hell bent on destroying the welfare system even though it was there to support them and got them to where they are today.
The PM loves to remind us how his mother raised him on welfare and what a success he is, but forgets to mention he made his millions on wall street as a speculator.
The corruption in this government is astounding from the minister of Justice resigning for leaking information to a right wing blogger to attack the opposition, to the PMs lies about promoting his friends to key positions, spying and the true state of the economy. He proudly states how he got us through the GFC with a "Surplus" but fails to mention we are at record debt because he borrowed 80 billion.
Employment is "Down" but the number of people getting kicked of benefits are up.
The law society has gone to the UN about undemocratic laws passed.
Tax cuts for the rich, What a surprise.

You don't even have to worry about making money legitimately, there's lots of money to be made drug dealing and scamming and heck, nowadays you get paid just for posting opinions online that benefit clients (who tend to be corporations and countries like Israel.)
