1. Wow, this is eerily reminiscent of the Ogden, Utah, raid earlier this year.

That left one cop dead and four or five others wounded.

The Ogden raid was over a guy growing pot. This one may have been about steroids.

According to the Drug War Chronicle, the chief is the 23rd person to die in US domestic drug enforcement operations so far this year. I think this is only the second cop, though.

Now, I think the officer is a victim of stupid drug policy as much as he is a victim of the shooter's bullet. Why on earth they were wasting time raiding a steroids ring is beyond me. There are far greater crimes than being stupid enough to inject performance enhancing drugs into your body.

There are children and women being abused. There are people stealing things from other people. Statistically, I believe both these things happen to a greater extent in a small town like Greenland because the opportunities are more limited than in large cities and that tends to exacerbate tension and anger.

Okay - let the slamming against me begin.
