(3,747 posts)I can't understand why women are hated/feared/wanted so much.
Hillary is correct in that EVERY religion and spiritual philosophy denigrates and hates women. Is hatred for being born male?

(12,504 posts)for the purpose of killing off those women who had gained societal stature. Guess who did all of that...the early Catholic church. Can't have the population looking at women as leaders because of their ability to heal using fruit, barks, berries and other naturally occurring remedies, and birthing babies. Had to shut that down in favor or patriarchal holiness....and bullying by brute strength.
There is a true fear for some, that as civilization progresses, testosterone levels isn't what defines leadership. Without that one issue, many will have nothing by which to validate their place as leaders.

(3,747 posts)I left out the only one I have ever been able to understand. I have loved the Earth since I can remember and ate dirt as a small child.
I have been studying my family history and it is a long and winding tale through Wales and The Isle of Manu and on to Babylon. But the story is really stymied when Charles killed every bard and poet in the land. Because of After that there was a diaspora and the family went to Australia, Barbados and Aomerica (Brittany) and England. My branch went to Barbados, became rum runners, came to America, purchased Broncksland (today's Bronx), became statesmen and helped found the country. The story ends with my generation.
But, in all the story, I can't find where the hatred came in. It seems it was always there in the history, but with the death of the oral Welsh her/history, I feel stopped again.
I know that 30,000 bc in what is now Turkey, in the Anatolia plains a civilization existed for a long time, layers of the society on layers. At first, they though that they had uncovered a religious center, but as the excavation continues, they have found that the entire site was the same. The Goddess was the center of the society with incredible statues and frescoes. They searched the grave sites, found both sexes were treated equally in death and most importantly, there were no smashed bones or skulls; death didn't come from battle. So we have this as a model of what society was; but no real idea why it became what it did.

(39,961 posts)Religion is a delineation between Us and Others. It's been founded on that since religion began. Women are others. It is a necessary part of the esteem of many men that they denigrate others. "I'm not awesome, but I'm better than you!" is the battle cry.
This attitude is changing, and enlightened men already understand that in order to have a functioning society, we all have to work together, but a lot of men refuse to get it in fear that it emasculates them in the eyes of their peers.
What the hell is so great about wanting to wage war and subjugate others anyway? I'll never understand it.

Well said, Madam Secretary.

(809 posts)won't like it. Authoritarian-susceptible brains are different, more likely to be governed by fear, less able to process complicated situations and information, fixated on control vs accepting uncertainty.
Pair that with men's evolutionarily demanded, uncontrollable desire for women, and voila. They are unable to control their desire for women, so control the women is the "logical" result.

(39,961 posts)Men are socialized to believe that they are the greatest person in the world, no matter who they are and no matter what their means is. In order to continue the fantasy that they are the most awesome person in the world, they have to dominate someone. Women have let them get away with it for far too long. Most men are nothing without their wives, their daughters and their mothers and sisters. They just choose to ignore it because they believe that no matter how poor, ugly, crooked or despicable they are, they are better than everybody else.
Tell me I'm wrong. It's at the heart of racism, it's at the heart of sexism, and it's at the heart of religious fanaticism. I'm not saying all men are this way, but enough are and they are the cause of many societal problems that could be solved if they would take a step back and recognize that they are not the masters of the universe.
