Running mates have historically been the attack dogs, usually leaving the front runner to stay above the fray (But only if you're not a Republican).
I can't wait to see Joe take off the gloves and give Mittens the verbal face punch that automaton most deservedly requires.

(62,683 posts)the primaries. He was my choice but he was gone in an instant. (I fancied a Biden/Obama ticket so Obama could get his chops then slip into the nom/win in 2016.)
I think Obama probably needed someone w/Biden's experience and expertise to lend some gravitas to his run, so even if you don't agree with his particular choice, I think the reasoning behind it was sound.

(25,415 posts)He gave experience and was someone that would not be a rival in the WH. Obama trusts him and works well with him. I think for those reasons he was a good VP pick.
