A shock tactic gone too far? New ad shows seniors simulating sex positions to promote condom use.

snip

The video campaign, released by U.S. organisation SaferSex4Seniors.org, is designed to promote safe sex through use of condoms following news that STDs among sexually-active seniors in Florida had risen by 71per cent over the past five years.

But many believe the group, while promoting a worthy cause, has taken shock tactics too far.

The 30-second video, released on YouTube today, shows a group of elderly men and women mocking the performance of fellatio as well as other challenging sexual positions.

In one scene, a particularly strong man is holding a woman who is standing upside down on her elbows. Deadpan expressions are shown on their faces.

so it's a bit strange, yes, especially if they do it that way now at their age, there are all sorts of broken possibillities.

I worked for a time in a position took me to the rooms of nursing-home residents. I lost count of the time I interrupted couples in flagrante delicto. It gave me hope for my own future.

On edit: it also taught me to knock loudly, as some of those folks didn't have the best of hearing.

undertrained on safe sex - many have never had any good training on STD's in their lives.

From the article "'Nobody wants to think about..." Well, cupcake, the ads aren't for you. And if "many" in the statement "many believe the group...has taken shock tactics too far" - it means the snarky blogger - HEY, the ad isn't targeted to you. If you can't help solve the problem go blog about something else.

If this gets their attention, so much the better. If the self-righteous don't like it, they can close their eyes, because their right to outrage ends at people's right to be protected from disease or unwanted pregnancies.

Are we supposedly protecting seniors from information about sex... or protecting ourselves from the idea that seniors have sex?

It's people having sex. They've done it for millions of years. Actually they WEREN'T even having sex, they were just joking about it.

I don't know of ANYTHING grosser than a human body that has been damaged violently by another human, but I have to look at pictures of that sort of shit all the time. I'd love to ban them ALL as offensive.

Does someone have a problem with the notion that "seniors" have sex?

If so, get over it.
