Newtie's such a genius: United Nations should adopt treaty giving everyone on earth gun rights

ST. LOUIS — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says the United Nations should adopt a treaty giving everyone on the planet the right to bear firearms.

The GOP presidential candidate told the National Rifle Association convention Friday in St. Louis that the group has been too timid in promoting gun rights.

Gingrich said there would be fewer women raped, children killed and villages destroyed if everyone had the right to carry a gun.

He spoke moments after GOP front-runner Mitt Romney addressed the crowd.

14. Actually, Somalia has (slightly) stricter gun laws than most US states.

Gun owners in Somalia have to be licensed, something not done in the US. They are not permitted to own automatic rifles. The problem isn't with Somalia's lack of laws, it's with the country's lack of law enforcement. No one pays any attention to the laws because they know they don't have to.

The US has about ten times the rate of civilian firearms possession that Somalia does, by the way.

He needs money and the only way he's getting it is from the RW loons. To seal his relationship, he should announce Arpaio as his running mate.

I'm visualizing him as one of the baboons at the zoo, frantically, obliviously just yankin' away.

Newtie needs to go on an all expenses paid tour of the third world to see what good guns smuggled mostly from the US are doing there.

Asshole.

15. I believe Remington and Colt are not publicly traded companies...

In fact... VERY few are publicly traded and instead are owned by private interests, individuals, or investment groups. The only publicly traded gun mfg I can think of is Ruger (NYSE: RGR). I think Winchester's ammo mfg is public as well (but not Winchester Arms itself).

arm everyone and the nut cases will be the ones to come out on top... why? Because they are the first most willing participants to pull a trigger when they are engaged with people or things they disagree with. Think about this... who is willing to take a life? An american liberal or an american right winger? Now, who is buying most of the guns, and who is spreading the fear of communist Obama taking away guns?
