This is NOT the way to run a 'railroad!'

(28,394 posts)Have you tried to "unsubscribe"? That worked for me. It could take awhile with 100, though!

(130,861 posts)haven't thought of it. I don't want to slap Wendy Davis, Alison L G, and others, wouldn't mind contributing and have a bit, but REALLY!

(15,429 posts)I'm about halfway through yesterday's emails.

(14,691 posts)single friggin' day. It's no use. I've taken to not being polite in telling them why in the "why are you unsubscribing?" box. Now I curse. I unsubscribe and the next day I GET ANOTHER PLEA FOR MONEY FROM THEM. I'm considering calling them and asking what the fuck's going on. Or, I'll just set up a free email account and redirect the mail to that in-box and never ever look at it.
MohRokTah
(15,429 posts)Even worse, you have to watch because the unsubscribe leads to a page where you are actually signing up for more emails unless you click the special "Unsubscribe Anyway" link hidden at the bottom.
I discovered that one the hard way.
LiberalElite
(14,691 posts)I do click on "unsubscribe anyway". I wonder how I keep getting back on their list.
MohRokTah
(15,429 posts)You might have to unsubscribe 435 times.
One thing is for certain, I'll never EVER contribute to ANY DCCC fundraising thing again because of the emails. Had a single unsubscribe fixed it, I might have reconsidered, but the rude constant emails ended any possibility of me EVER donating to DCCC again (In 2012 I gave a couple hundred bucks over a couple of months).

(45,274 posts)OMG, the Koch Bros have just put $20 mil into my opponent's war chest. I'm gonna crash & burn if you don't send me $20 by midnight & unlock my matching fund. It'll be all your fault when I lose!
And then there's the phone calls
makes me wanna ditch our landline.

(14,691 posts)sucked in by that can you give $3? Move On does that a lot. Or, the other Move On one that makes me laugh: "Can you chip in $65?" Sure, I have $65 lying around here that I didn't know what to do with - thanks!

(67,102 posts)whatever. I have to admit, I do take a delight in that, particularly after I get emails that tell me "I" am responsible for the failures of the democratic party! I'll be damn if they are going to get into my phone system.

(67,102 posts)at once. There are way too many to unsubscribe to for me. I got about 100 today. If you set up an auto-redirect you never even see any of them until you go to the delete folder. Some of them I do donate too and others sometimes have some interesting info.
That sad, I'm really fed up with some of them telling me "I" am responsible for the failures of the democratic party. That, really pisses me off, a lot. That type of messaging does not work for me.

(297,123 posts)isn't bothered by it. I feel for them.. I wish I could send a $100 bucks to every last one of them for their end of the month fundraising efforts. But, I can't send anything to anybody right now at and I just silently wish the luck as they are fighting the very essence of evil personified.

(67,102 posts)shock when I look on Act Blue and see how much I've given. Here is what REALLY bugs me. I get super fed up with a country that calls itself democratic and all, and then we have stupid things like Citizens United, and bought/bribed politicians. That, is not a democracy. We MUST get this money out of politics, but I have no idea how that will be accomplished.

(21,714 posts)I plan on voting for the guy, but not if he ties up my phone line like that. I let the answering machine get it, and if I am by the answering machine I listen to find out who is calling. I have tried to pick up the phone and hang up. If I pick up the phone a few minutes later, the damn robocall is still going on. I am not amused.

(9,527 posts)Otherwise they wouldn't keep sending out these doom and gloom emails. There was an article on politico.com today about this and how both parties are doing it because it's working.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,668 posts)Most of them have apocalyptic captions and involve desperate pleas suggesting that if I don't donate immediately, western civilization will collapse and it will be all my fault. It's all just turned into white noise and is not motivating me in the slightest to open my checkbook. Now it's just as annoying as the Nigerian scam emails and manhood enhancement spam.
Although Al Franken's campaign sent a pretty good one the other day captioned "INVASION FROM PLANET ZYRKTOR!"
APOCALYPTIC FUNDRAISING EMAIL WARNING!
Sick and tired of emails that make it sound like, without your $5 contribution, aliens from the planet Zyrktor will surely enslave all of humanity and force us to work in their underground salt mines?
Me, too. So Ill level with you. Theres no alien invasion. The world wont come to an end if you delete this email.
It went on to ask for money. But at least it was a bit clever.

(67,102 posts)the coding recognizes an actual person was at the other end, and hence receptive to an email, so others, perhaps similar or different are spawned to approach one from another marketing hype angle. So, the net/net of it all does just the opposite of what one might expect, ending up on more distribution lists than fewer!

Grass roots support with come out of the woodwork for their candidates if the party would only embrace policy positions like legalizing cannabis and ending the prison for profit system in our country.
But they don't say this or even care about these issues.

(16,254 posts)Many of them sounded like dunning notices and inferred I had bad credit with the party. They begged, scolded and tried to embarrass me for not contributing more. It has been this way for months and I just got sick enough of it that I bulled and decided not to donate more.
What I will do, instead, is make sure all my family and friends make it to the polls or vote early. That's a bunch and worth much more than the few dollars I would have given. I realize the importance of this election, so don't yell at me for failing to donate dollars I need for my own survival. The Koch bros. have made a mockery out of our elections and I don't want to participate in seeing who can win the money game.

(7,627 posts)To setup filtering rules and redirect all into a junk folder. Unsubscribing is time consuming and does not work well. Your email is always going to be in somebody's list and will be distributed again to the various fundraising outfits.

(4,524 posts)For example, I got one from "Obama" with the subject, "I need you." Another one said something like "See you tonight!"
I highly doubt these groups need any more money. I bet most of the donations go straight into some executive's pocket.

"Bad news today. This cant wait. Doomed. Add your name. This literally just happened. Jaw dropping. Crushing blow. Unprecedented blow. Final notice. Final notice. Final notice. We keep e-mailing. Sorry, this has gone too far. Were in real danger. All hope is lost. Throw in the towel."
But apparently emotional appeals work extremely well.
Very, very well one could say.

(7,960 posts)No one local has reached out to me. They have my e-mail address and information but no, I got gerrymandered. My Congressman used to be Rush Holt. Now it's Chris Smith, a Republican safe district and therefore for the Democrats--I don't exist--except as a seemingly limitless source of donations.
Sorry guys, that ship sailed away with my last job.
That's OK, neither as far as I can tell does my Democratic Candidate does not exist either--except on Facebook where there are pictures of him. Seems like a nice, smiley guy. He's not a Republican. I'll vote for him.

I gave up on the DCCC a few years ago. Now I just go straight to the candidate - and cut through their bullshit.
