to go easy on them with regard to regulations (which they are charged with enforcing), that when they leave their respective regulatory agencies, they will wind up with a Mickey Mouse make-work job at those same banks, as happened with Eric Cantor or Tim Geithner. Do nothing but show up every now and then, and collect $ Millions! And in many cases, that is an accurate assessment of what happens to regulators who fail to regulate. All totally legal, but slimy as a rotten bucket of eels.

And with the vast amounts of money in the balance, most of us would be tempted to compromise judgment - on that, let's not kid ourselves. Many of us would be tempted but decide to resist; others shrug and say, 'what I do won't make any difference/everyone else is doing it/integrity is for paupers.'
