(14,400 posts)nationally right now?
Does it have a list of diseases and other health trends that you can check or is it pretty limited.
not sure what that stands for.

(14,400 posts)It's a seasonally variable virus that affects children.
I know the CDC tracks it I was just wondering if the app connects with the CDC on National and State trends in disease surveillance or if it's just a news gatherer?

(62,439 posts)there are a few cases here in Texas. In fact, a close friend of mine thinks her child may have it.
it's big in the Midwest still.
Not confirmed by any source what so ever, but I have heard that it maybe a form of polio. But again, that is just supposition.
I think the app picks up all alerts from both the CDC and the WHO as well as local reports.
on edit:
The app is updated via a team of researchers, epidemiologists and software developers at the Children's Hospital in Boston. it also states that they are the global leader in utilizing online informal sources for disease outbreak monitoring and real-time surveillance of emerging public health threats.

(1,735 posts)as to why people have to be constantly updated about all things ebola? Perhaps someone can make an app that keeps a running tally of shootings in the US? There are more of them than of people with ebola.

(62,439 posts)for me, it's because of one of my hobbies being virology.
I also think it's a good tool for tracking flu outbreaks.
it just so happens to track all reports.
I believe it's a very useful tool.
