It is time for a global discussion on Public Health

Public Health has been undermined big time as a result of neo-liberal policies across the globe.

You cannot have the IMF demanding the lay off of critical Public Health workers and not expect epidemics. The same is true for education - if you think education is expensive just try ignorance.

The blow back is on in earnest.

Reid refuses to allow a vote. The filibuster rule on Presidential appointments has been eliminated. Nothing is stopping the vote -- just Reid.

the 55-seat Democratic caucus can confirm nominees with no Republican buy-in.

The chickenshit majority could confirm Vivek Murthy tomorrow.

But being in the majority has complicated life for its red-state members.

They can no longer expect a Republican filibuster to kill a “controversial” nomination.

They have to kill the nominations themselves.

They will learn.
The amount of work time lost in the Caribbean with this Chikungunya is scaring the greediest of the profit seekers. What's more some of them are coming down with the virus as well.

They see it in terms of losing money - they are scared shitless.
No surprise Cuba's Public Health comes first again.

need to take care of the homeless and the poor. Basic shelter, clean water and sanitation, nutrition and access to health care should be a basic right of everyone. Diseases don't care if you are poor or rich when they come to call, but they will start with the disadvantaged and then spread to the privileged in time.

We can't rely on elections to change the way society runs. We are going to have to actively start getting rid of these corporate criminals and they are criminals. It's time what's left of our justice system starts to aggressively deal with them,

know and care very little about the reasons for public health and the World Health Organization.

Maybe they want us dead or we would not be laying off public health workers across the globe and cutting funding. In reality it is all about survival of the species.
Greed will kill all of us.

There is no discussion on the link between diet, exercise and preventive measures to prevent health issues.

For examples, back massages work very well for stressed out kids and teenagers - many don't need medication. Likewise some form of play/sport/exercise will induce sleep without the side effects of drugs.

That said we will still need public health intervention to prevent epidemics.
