"SNIP..........................
"I'm not a scientist, I am interested in protecting Kentucky's economy, I'm interested in having low cost electricity," said McConnell Thursday in an interview with the editorial board of The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Funny, because Mitch McConnell isn't the president, but that hasn't stopped him from telling the president what to do.
McConnell also isn't a soldiernor has he ever beenbut that hasn't stopped him from pushing to fight more wars.
In fact, last I checked, McConnell wasn't a woman, but he still feels like he's the right guy to be making medical decisions for them.
............................SNIP"

(2,212 posts)I noticed all the prominent AGW deniers repeating the exact same stock phrase, verbatim, starting at the same time about 8 month or so ago, if I remember correctly. It was so coordinated it was clearly a talking-point diktat issued by a conservative think tank. My guess would be either the Heartland Institute or the George C. Marshall Institute.
Mitch (the Turtleman) McConnell is, indeed, following his marching orders, just as you said.

It's their way of attempting to avoid the question. They know that if they actually give an opinion they'll upset one block of voters or another.
What I want to know is; since they are claiming that they're not qualified to have an opinion on scientific issues, do they believe in gravity, or the heliocentric model, or the germ theory of disease?
What about economics? Republicans love to go on about economics as if they're experts. But how many of them are economists? If they're going to be consistent, then the next time someone asks them about the minimum wage, or the deficit, or trickle down theory, their answer should be "I'm not an economist".

(10,167 posts)He must have taken Biology or Chemistry or some other science and to some degree understood the material. Someone needs to ask him how he was able to get through College without being able to understand and process (a mountain of) empirical data.

(8,962 posts)Politicians may not be scientists, and may or may not heed their advice. However, they are often unflinching ideologues who have the capability of stopping science and its beneficial application dead in its tracks. Thank you Senator, for reminding us of who you REALLY are.
