Why I use "Republi-con," or "RepubliCON" if you like, because to survive, Republicans have to con a certain number of voters into thinking they'll somehow be better off. There's the cheating too, but mostly it's the "con" that works for them. I'm racist like you. "I'm hateful to Immigrants, similar to your position." "I'm religious like you." "We're going to create jobs," failing to tell them they won't be IN America--and many others.

I like her, but she kind of just focuses on one side doing wrong a bit too much for me. I think both parties are pretty corrupt at this point.

If both sides supposedly ARE the same, I will STILL side with the one that stays out of my gyno's office, stays out of my bedroom, doesn't try to keep me OR others from voting, one that accepts science as real and government as something that ISN'T just completely bad and unnecessary. I will side with those who don't hug their guns and Bibles first (and sometimes only) before stopping to think clearly or logically or objectively, and doesn't automatically assume everyone who isn't pale-skinned is somehow bad or there to be exploited, avoided, mistrusted, or shat upon.

Both sides are NOT the same.

But then again I relish an opportunity to underscore the overriding point, just in general. ANY time I can remind about both parties NOT being alike, perhaps I can convince some wavering voter out there to go vote ANYWAY, and NOT throw up his/her hands and stay home on Election Day. It truly does make a difference which party one considers, holding one's nose or not.

I love voting. Definitely people do need to vote and really become educated on who they think is the best candidate with facts, I totally agree with you there! Voting should be mandatory, honestly. If someone doesn't want to choose they can just select 'no vote' or something, but everyone who is capable should have to show up.

So hate propaganda laws are out, how about truth in advertising laws for political campaigns and restricted advertising windows only before national elections?

on capital gains at least, and simplify the deductions and tax code. And maybe a flatter corporate tax so that corporations can stop complaining about the high tax rates when they actually pay significantly less.

You have money in a stock that appreciates, you dont pay taxes on the gain until you sell. If you have money in a mutual fund, any capital gains are taxed even if you never sell any shares of the fund. I dont think thats right. Its punishing you for investing for your future. You may even end up having to sell to get the cash to pay the tax
I agree with your other points, but you wont find a lot of support for it on the Dem side. I havent seen the president present a plan for it. Regardless of its chances in a GOP house, it would show who is trying to accomplish something.
But I'm considered "fringe" on DU, because I also support a sales tax. We have too many people earning good money who pay little or no taxes because they earn cash wages. We need more people pulling the wagon. There arent enough "rich" people to fund everything.
