combined with:

"We are the only western industrialized nation that allows pharmaceutical commercials on television"

Equals incentivized Doctors trying to sell drugs on TV... I'm sure there's no conflict of interest there. Right?

It reinforces the attitude that health care is a commodity to be purchased.

2. Pharmaceutical commercials are way out of control

I generally don't watch commercials any more, I fast forward through them. But the other day I was busy doing something else and the commercials played on. One after the other after another. The side effects are sickening. Some of them even warned of 'death' in certain circumstances. When is it going to stop? It is ridiculous. Talk about Pushers. sheesh.

I listen to the list of side effects and decide the cure is worse.

Drug ads do go both ways. Unfortunately, more people out there think they have any disease they hear about in a commercial than listen to the side effects.

When the drug's side effects are worse than the affliction you're trying to address, its seriously time to re-evaluate if you actually need to take that drug!
