"60 Minutes" really hitting bottom.

They are going to interview tomorrow the new director of the FBI.
Ok...
That's somewhat important.

BUT...

Yet another "human interest" fluff piece, this one on how smart dogs are.

They show a dog that appears to be really smart, without mentioning the "Clever Hans" trained horse.

1. I'm hoping they're not falling for that trick! There are plenty of smart dogs to choose from

without having to resort to one who does tricks at its owner's command.

I always get a kick out of this one:

I was watching carefully to make sure Tyson had no way to even without himself knowing, giving the dog a subtle clue, from his own voice or body language.

Because that is the "Clever Hans" premise.

I think NGT did a good job of making it as double-blind as possible under the circumstances, though I would've preferred a larger toy collection to choose from

On edit, I suppose the doggie could be getting clues from the camera operator.

3. It hit bottom decades ago and hasn't budged since

It isn't even the same show where Mike Wallace used to chase some slimy politician out of the city hall and the guy would cover his face with his briefcase so the cameras couldn't see him.

Somewhere along the line the show was neutered and it never recovered. I'll bet it's been 25 years since I even flipped to it to see what was on.

6. It's not at all like when they could make the likes of Nathan Thurm sweat.

Though Thurm is still at it - here is denying global warming in an interview with RFK, Jr.
