http://www.mediaite.com/tv/reince-priebus-texas-abortion-law-about-gops-compassion/Chair Reince Priebus suggested to Meet the Press Chuck Todd Sunday morning that a bill in Texas that had shuttered a majority of the states abortion clinics was all about compassion.
We believe that any woman thats faced with an unplanned pregnancy deserves compassion, respect, counseling, whatever it is that we can offer, Priebus said.
But 80% of those clinics are gone! Todd countered. They have to drive 200, 300 miles for that compassion?
The issue for us is only one thing, and thats whether you ought to use taxpayer money to fund abortion, Priebus said. Thats the one issue that I think separates this conversation that were having.
Taxpayer money is already forbidden to fund abortions. The Texas law mandated that abortion centers meeting ambulatory surgical center standards; that was the point of Governor Rick Perrys strange Joan Rivers riff. Todd did not follow up.

(23,946 posts)The whole design of the well oiled American major media propaganda machine is to let lies be said and ripen in the breeze of national exposure, and never, ever follow up.
Would kind of defeat the whole purpose.

(3,208 posts)Just this man mentioning about federal funds for abortion, and many people will assume federal funds have been going for abortion and won't bother to realize THAT IT IS NOT TRUE. And a real journalist would have corrected the person who said it, but they don't do that anymore.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(7,939 posts)While the term "infomercial" was originally applied only to television advertising, it is now sometimes used to refer to any presentation (often on video) which presents a significant amount of information in an actual, or perceived, attempt to promote a point of view. When used this way, the term may be meant to carry an implication that the party making the communication is exaggerating truths or hiding important facts.

Throw away the grown woman who needs one or she'll die, either from a dead fetus staying inside and killing the woman with septicemia, or a tubal pregnancy. Let her die from a preventable cause, that's Republican compassion.
My family once had a cocker spaniel who had to have a hysterectomy decades ago so she wouldn't die from septicemia since all the puppies were not delivered. Mammalian reproduction is pretty much the same whether you're a dog, a cat, or a human female.
Their utter ignorance of female reproductive facts by Republicans is worse than gobsmackingly ignorant. There are no words.

(8 posts)Compassion? Really? Abortion is not a walk in the park, but some women need it for medical reasons. Haven't they heard about ectopic pregnancy, for example?
