In that total, you have all the military expenses in Africa and I am not just talking Ebola. South Korea. Anytime we have a natural desaster, the military is called. Much more in that money then just war.

2. And the sad truth is we've been spending more

than the entire rest of the world combined for a very long time now, maybe since the end of WWII. Money that could be spent on social services, on education, on health care. The way other countries do.

Because we still have a far larger military than anyone else, because we invade or bomb countries at will and with impunity, because we have hundreds of American soldiers stationed all over the world, we still appear to be a major world power. Eventually this will all catch up with us. The decline, when it happens will probably be so swift that people wouldn't realize it's happening until much too late.
