Fox Business host John Stossel on Monday blamed the media and especially female news personalities for hyping the threat of Ebola.
Guest hosting on the Fox News show 'Outnumbered,' Stossel argued that President Barack Obama needed to calm the nations fears about Ebola.
He should say this is an overhyped risk being pumped by news media like us, especially you women who are more scared of Ebola, the libertarian news man quipped. Im being really sexist here, Stossel added, as the four female co-hosts collectively gasped. But there are real risks in life, but Ebola is it may prove to be, its unlikely. Its hard to catch, he continued. The regular flu kills thousands and thousands of people. Theres so much other stuff. Driving a car in the rain, promiscuous sex, drinking too much. There are real things to worry about. This distracts us from that.
Co-host Sandra Smith speculated that an uncertainty about Ebola was causing the hype. And its what they said about SARS, bird flu, flesh-eating bacteria, all of the stuff global warming thats going to kill us, Stossel replied. John Stossel, picking on us for being women, co-host Harris Faulkner said at the conclusion of the segment. Well see what happens to you during the commercial.
Youre all wrong on this, Stossel said.

(23,156 posts)Unfortunately, he's an idiot to connect it to climate change, and he's a sexist asshole for blaming women for the overhype.

(6,342 posts)Actually starts to make a good point about it being overhyped by media, but then he blows himself up by trying to connect it to climate change and then blaming women for it.
Talk about a misfire.
