"Little Moe" can destroy the Ebola virus in seconds.

I'd like to see some of our 400 richest Americans buy a bunch of these, and provide them to treatment facilities in Ebola hotspots. Wouldn't that be a good use of all that cash?

The robot (Little Moe) rolls around on four wheels and uses xenon, a non-toxic gas, to create the ultraviolet rays needed to destroy viruses.

It blasts 1.5 pulses per second up to ten feet (three metres) in every direction to kill viruses including Ebola. Light that is 25,000 times bright than sunlight is created in each flash.

'Our robot ensures the room is safe for the next patient by destroying germs on high-touch surfaces, and in hard to clean nooks and crannies,' a spokesperson for Xenex said.

It takes just two minutes for the robot to destroy Ebola on a surface, while other viruses can be eradicated in five minutes.
Such technology, using UV rays to sterilise a room, has been around for decades, but Little Moe speeds up the process by using xenon in place of mercury.

I adore Little Moe and wish we'd had one when noroviruses were making the rounds.

A super bright UV light would be fantastic for terminal cleaning after patients with highly infectious viral illnesses had been discharged. It also wipes out a lot of bacteria, starting with E. coli and MRSA.

Then the cleaners could be brought in to a safer room to clean with normal procedures.

Whoever invented this thing is going to die rich. I hope.

ETA: They're $104,000 per unit right now. I hope the demand is enough to drop the price.

The cost of XENON is around $14,000 for a welding size cylinder of around 200 cubic feet. That price was 10 years ago .

What if a defense contractor owned a company that made the Little Moe? Then you'd see them on every street corner. I'd rather my taxes go to that instead of more weapons.

I watched a heartbreaking story about kids in Liberia who lost their mom to Ebola, she died in the house. They burned the house down (common practice) and now have nowhere to live.

But... maybe I'm too cynical.

be truly able to deliver us from this latest evil.

Not to mention it does not kill the virus in the infected person and there has been no testing done on Ebola and proper regular precautions are just as effective.....too good to be true, like a miracle pill for obesity.
