Former Infosys recruiter says he was told not to hire U.S. workers

Source: Computerworld

A lawsuit alleging that outsourcing firm Infosys favored hiring Indian workers over U.S. workers now includes an account from a recruiter about the alleged practice. ... It includes an account by Samuel Marrero, who worked as a recruiter in Infosys's talent acquisition unit from 2011 until May 2013.

In weekly conference calls held by company officials, the lawsuit says, recruiters were encouraged to focus their efforts on Indian candidates and "stick to the talent we're used to."

... Marrero and other recruiters "frequently complained" to higher-ups at Infosys during these weekly calls that many of the highly qualified American candidates they had presented were being rejected in favor of Indian prospects. ... In about October 2012, in response to one of these complaints, Infosys' global enterprise lead allegedly said, "Americans don't know shit."

Infosys is one of the largest users of H-1B visas, according to government data.

Reference to the real point being the difference in pay requirements which is not the expressed point of the HB1 visas (which is that when there are not qualified US candidates - reaching out to foreign nationals is required for the business).

I answered my own question. Follow link to meet their board of directors http://www.infosys.com/about/management-profiles/Pages/index.aspx

Good to know the bigots one is doing business with, I guess.

They think Americans are stupid and they may be right when it comes to the Tech contracts they get from American corporations. Get paid big $$$ to do a shoddy job- ESPECIALLY in their help desk/call center areas.

There are several of the big "body shops" which hire only H1B Visas.

What is worse, a large percentage of companies hire exclusively through these firms. All the jobs are posted as 3 month temporary contracts and filled through firms like InfoSys.

The H1B visa holders can obtain great jobs at the largest companies, in days.

Those of us with a job can't risk the 3 month contract ending. The US IT workers that do pursue the positions can't even get an interview.

While Rome burns (living wage jobs) the hysteria is the "illegal immigrants" taking American jobs (not living wage jobs).

HB-1's don't ask for higher pay, they are just grateful to be here. They are very nice people, but they are stealing jobs from American computer professionals. It got worse and worse and worse every year (I was in the hub).

is the surest sign of bigotry. Hopefully there will be some discrimination lawsuits and policy changes.

What does that say about the viability of a company whose leadership holds such idiotic opinions? Americans are responsible for a significant portion of the major innovations and most global metrics have proven that American workers tend to work more hours a day, more days a year, and more jobs than many other developed countries.

Those who don't appreciate American workers should lose American customers. That global enterprise lead needs to know this shit.
