The mother of a Highlands High School student with autism said her sons soccer teammates duct taped him to a goal post over the weekend.
Austin Babinsacks mom, Kristie Babinsack, said her son went to school Wednesday following the incident.
To be honest, when he walked out that door and headed for the bus, I broke down, said Kristie Babinsack.
Further on:
Despite Sundays incident, Austin attended his teams soccer game Monday night. His mom said while there, members of the team called him a snitch and he decided to quit the team.

(23,674 posts)that's fucked up. My grandson has autism and I know the pain he sometimes goes through. To have people purposely add to it, is inexcusable!

(55,981 posts)United States. Look at the movies, the video games, sports, they are all about bullying. The biggest bully is reveled. The country itself is a huge bully and has been for a century or more. Even here in DU RiverCity. How many good people have been bullied off? In my career I tried to fight the bully managers and paid the price. Go to a PTA meeting and you are apt to find someone trying to get their way by bullying others. What I find interesting is that supposedly we are supposed to be a Christian country, but I doubt that Christ would approve of bullying. Yes shooting a basket in basket is worth two points, but if you and slam dunk with your foot in the face of the defender, the crowd will go wild and you will be rewarded with a extra foul shot. It's not about having a good game, it's about how much you can dominate and humiliate.

(9,527 posts)I hope he wasn't suspended because some of the players are awful excuses for human beings.
I get that kids can be stupid and thus do some pretty stupid things, but this goes past stupid into just pointlessly cruel.

(813 posts)He is at fault; where was he when this was going on? It's his responsibility to make sure every player is treated with dignity and respect. Like the poster above said, if he hasn't kicked those players off the team, he's twice implicit in this situation. Poor kid. A fish rots from the down.
