Hows about we impound all of the funds they have stolen for the last 200 years?
That'll pay some bills.

Because he was against the wars, promised to bring the troops home and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in anticipation.

So who do you consider "rich"?

BTW, I've worked hard, and still do, for close to 60 years to earn what I have.

I'm also not impressed by "bumper sticker" slogans.

is how we got into this mess. If the people want war then have everyone pay for it. If they don't want to pay for it the war will end quickly.

agree

The maximum tax rate in 1945 was 94% on taxable income over $200,000. Adjusted for inflation, that's $2.6 million. The top tax rate fell to 82.1% in 1948 but rose again to 91% in 1951 and stayed there through 1963.

........

Members of the Greatest Generation also were willing to compromise. While no one likes higher taxes, they did so when national circumstances made it necessary, such as when President Johnson levied a 10% surtax to fund the Vietnam War.

Can the wealthy can afford to pay more taxes?

Every generation says that about themselves. Absolutely no one paid those high rates. In those years there were tax shelters and loopholes that no longer exist. Interesting you promote Johnson's 10% surtax which was not progressive at all. And yes almost everyone paid some taxes in those years. I thought you said all Democrats supported progressive taxation. I guess Johnson was not a Democrat in your book.

Seems like we need to have a national discussion about a wealth tax to pay for the long war on ISIL.

We shouldn't be at war, IMO. I would much rather have a conversation about how to pay for universal health care, eliminate poverty, and repair our country's infrastructure. I'm all for a strong and ready Department of Defense, but the current bloated state of the military industrial complex is beyond ridiculous.
