Cain campaign paid groups reportedly under federal investigation

Nearly two months after dropping his bid for the GOP nomination, Herman Cain’s presidential campaign paid about $19,000 to a pair of nonprofit groups that are reportedly under federal investigation for boosting his White House bid.

The Wisconsin-based groups, Prosperity USA and Wisconsin Prosperity Network, were run by Cain’s top aides and footed the bill for about $40,000 of goods and services — including iPads and chartered flights — that helped Cain’s campaign get going early last year, according to documents obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

It would be illegal for the groups to donate goods or services to a presidential campaign, and Cain’s campaign last year said it had retained an outside lawyer to look into the matter.

The Journal Sentinel reported last month that the FBI was investigating the groups and their leaders, Mark Block and Linda Hansen, who served as Cain’s campaign manager and deputy campaign manager, respectively.

one of Walker's minions-in-chief, the one who stole the Veterans' fund, used some of his stolen money to travel to meet Cain.

How much ya wanna bet that when the string is unraveled, it will lead to Walker?

Here's an old comment from Uppity Wisconsin that hits the big points:

This is unfolding just like Watergate. It's all a matter of following the money. Looks like Tim Russell is the bag man, collecting or skimming cash from a multitude of sources (which Walker conveniently set him up in). PLUS, trips to visit Presidential candidate Hermain Cain and Mark Block in GA (like that was necessary UNLESS cash exchanged hands). Looks to me like this Walker thing is going to blow wide open nationally and take with it one or more national Tea Party figures with it. If I were outside Wisconsin and a GOP, I'd want nothing to do with the widening Scott Walker scandal.
