Alaskan residents to get $1800 plus. Two of my kids are current residents.

Why won't Arizona do this for me? Well, no oil here I guess. But my kids will fly to Az for Thanksgiving.

Alaska residents to get $1,884 payout from oil royalty fund

(Reuters) - Nearly every Alaska resident will soon be $1,884 richer, thanks to an annual payout from an oil wealth trust fund that has been credited with keeping many low-income families out of poverty, state officials said on Wednesday.

More than 640,000 Alaska residents will receive the payment from The Alaska Permanent Fund next month, which Department of Revenue Commissioner Angela Rodell says is the third largest since the state began paying such sums in 1982 with a $1,000 check.

The sum is more than twice the $900 paid to each Alaska resident last year and more than the collective payments from each of the last two years. But it is still off from a high of $2,069 paid in 2008.

They come in handy every year. There is a whole industry built up around the PFD. The car dealerships always let you use it early. I plan on buying new furniture for my kids with theirs.

It seems to me you should be getting money from those mining interests. I say nationalize or at least have the states take over all extraction industries and I include lumber in that. We don't need behemoth private interests taking all the profits in what should belong to the people.

I'm sure the residents can use all the help they can get.

Beautiful state, but I wouldn't want to live there.

here. In the villages, heating can cost up to $2400 a month and they are deeply economically depressed. I knew one of the architects of this. They wanted the people to get their share. I truly reverence them even to this day. What a concept.

How much did the oil co's and CEO's profit from those leases?

Pennies from heaven for the masses while billions are being hoarded and an irreplaceable environment gets destroyed by the elite.

Nationalize it all, employ the people to maintain it, share the proceeds. Eliminate the billionaires who thrive on commodities.
