Republicans have decided that Ebola, ISIS, Obama is this years recipe for political victory. After all, Ebola (carried by scary black Africans) and Isis (scary, mostly brown people cutting off heads) are virtually guaranteed to spread terror far and wide across America. And of course, Obama must be responsible for letting it all enter this country since hes the President. Perhaps, most disgusting, is the medias complicity in drowning America in an enormous vat of bullshit.
Its hard to believe that this is the same country that saved the entire world from fascism in WWII and, along with others, has fought Aids almost to a draw. Who would have thought that panic could so easily go viral here and would include such a broad spectrum of people? I guess its a testament to the effectiveness and efficiency of Republican messaging, along with the media giving them full access to open microphones to spread the dread.
In the not too distant future, many people will look back at today and wonder why they bought the snake oil. But by then, there will be a new cauldron of fear, or perhaps a new shiny object that the GOP/media cartel will be peddling.
It seems that the idea of having to give people something to vote for is an illusion. The reality, and the moral here, is that if people have no reason in the world to vote for you, terrify them. And also make sure that those who would never vote for you dont get to vote.

(15,035 posts)it can always be dredged up out of the dumpster if Ebola and ISIS start to lose effectiveness.
But no matter how this election turns out, the GOP will continue their campaign of spewing hatred and fear. They'll never run short of sewerage to fling far and wide. After all, "We Make It Up. You Decide."

but they can't avoid it. The agenda has been set by our enemies in the GOP, and MSNBC has been sucked into the undertow. Even though they try to discuss these issues rationally, the fact is that they're still discussing "These Issues."
The only media we have going for us is MSNBC and Jon Stewart, but it's just not enough to turn the tide against a tsunami of snake oil that's drowned out rational thought.
