In a blogpost on Saturday the editor of Redstate argued that the NRCC would have gone a step further and forced DeMaio to drop out of the race. The blogpost came a day after a new CNN report on Friday detailing former DeMaio staffer Todd Bosnich's claim that DeMaio sexually harassed him.

"Here's the truth about all this. The NRCC vetted the guy and these allegations were there for a while," Erickson wrote. "They have merit behind them. Were DeMaio a straight guy, the NRCC would have worked overtime to force him out. Republicans all over would be denouncing this guy."

DeMaio isn't getting that treatment, Erickson added, because "DeMaio is gay. And the GOP likes to raise the diversity shield where it can. So they'll turn a blind eye here. That's just the reality of the situation."

DeMaio has strongly denied Bosnich's allegations. DeMaio is running to replace Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA), a top target for national Republicans.

This is by no means the first time these allegations have come up. He has quite a history of this conduct.

Its not about being gay, its about his behavior which bordered on sexual harassment or indecent exposure. I have plenty of gay friends who dont go around exposing themselves in public.
