So 'The Fix' is clutching his pearls over Wendy Davis's nasty ad.

Ya know?
He can STFU!
There have been a brazillion nasty ads about President Obama alone much less anybody else. These ads have been bigoted, filled with lies, and beyond anything seen in a while both in contemt and number.
So when The Fix climbs on his high horse to point out A nasty political ad I want to know where the hell he has been. He needs help since he just returned to this planet after a long stay in another universe.

Is Davis's ad tough? You bet. It points out the hypocrisy of Greg Abbott in denying others any justice when wronged in various ways. His involves an accident that unfortunately resulted in him having to use a wheelchair. He sued the homeowner but wanted punitive damage caps.

I have no problem with it. It forcefully illustrates the fact that Abbott has tried to somewhat overcome a very rough problem with money. That never gets rid of the trauma but it can help people obtain the help they need and some justice for what they go through.

That wheelchair represents a lot of hardships to a lot of people. It may not be a wheelchair, but what people are left to go through life with can be just as tough.

So spare me the pearls and the vapors. This ad doesn't even register on the nasty meter. Lee Atwater quipping that a candidate who had been through shock treatments had been 'hooked up to jumper cables' was nasty. Get a grip and think about what nasty looks like because it's been out and about for a long time.

Like the time he wanted a special wheelchair ramp for his office in the Capitol building at the same time going to court fighting the requirements of ADA

Since the name on his ID didn't exactly matched to the name he gave while registering for voting.

They seem to be visitors here, oblivious to the stereotypically-wingnut ABBOTT's hating on minorities/women/poor with his ACTS while putting on a genial face. As Hamlet said, "That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain"!1

I tried and tried to pierce one visitor here who hammered away that we were "attacking a man in a wheelchair," with the fact that it is his hypocrisy that is being exposed, to no avail.

ABBOTT and Scott WALKER are peas in a pod.

Years ago, Greg Abbott was situated in the Houston enclave of River Oaks---one of the wealthiest neighborhoods on the entire planet---when a huge oak tree split and fell on him, putting him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. As a result, Abbott collected in excess of $10,000,000 in damages. Once he was in public office, Abbott saw to it that other victims of severe, life-altering injuries were able to obtain a maximum of only $250,000 in damages---for those of you keeping score, that's 1/40th of what Abbott put in the bank. You have problems with Wendy Davis's ad? I sure as hell don't.

I doubt anyone would be criticizing it at all if Wendy Davis were a man running the same kind of ad. A lot of the overreaction is probably nothing more than outrage at a woman playing hardball instead of being "nice."

Point out one thing in Wendy Davis' ad that's factually untrue.

More to the point, show me one GOP bullshit attack ad that any of the Beltway Kool Kidz have screeched about with similar energy and fervor.

...absent the wheelchair, it would have been a perfectly acceptable ad about hypocrisy. WITH the wheelchair, it will be interpreted as an going after Abbot's disability. Not the message to be going after independents with.

That said, it's irrelevant, since she's losing by 14 points or so, and isn't likely to make up the difference.

It doesn't take away from the fact that it is a Hail Mary play from a candidate on the ropes.

Being factually correct doesn't make it a sound tactic that is likely to elicit votes, when the perception is that you are attacking a disability.

I think that is the only real point Democratic critics of this ad are trying to make, it might make you feel better, but it doesn't benefit the campaign.
