Sierra Leone peacekeepers bound for Somalia quarantined over Ebola

Oct 14 (Reuters) - A battalion of 800 Sierra Leone soldiers awaiting deployment as peacekeepers in Somalia has been placed in quarantine after one of its members tested positive for the deadly Ebola virus, military officials said on Tuesday.

The soldiers were due to relieve the West African nation's contingent already deployed with Somalia's African Union peacekeeping mission, known as AMISOM. They are now expected to be subject to a 21-day isolation period.

That's it..that's the entire article, so far.

Lots of questions come up, tho.
How do you isolate 800 people?
Where and how did the one person get exposed?

exponential. The isolation and processing for those at risk IMO could overwhelm the capacity. I'm not being panicky, but just looking at the risk. It seems so damn tenacious when trying to prevent one being infected. ... almost like trying to isolate, contain and eliminate the common cold.

Somewhere here yesterday there was/is a headline that 70 staff all told cared for the guy in Dallas.

at some point, sooner than later, the resources needed to deal with a widespread outbreak will not be sufficient.

Betcha some science fiction writers are already outlining the plot for a modern Black death scenario.
