The misogynists come out per the Ann Romney flap, and it's horrid

I knew it was there, but didn't realize the depth of the hatred for women until the Ann Romney dustup. Mom raised us two sons alone in the 50s and 60s (Dad beat her and disappeared), and was an extraordinary and accomplished woman. But I can't believe the depths of hatred towards women like her and in fact all women coming out in the wake of the Ann Romney situation. This is the story that should be followed; not Ann and her privileges. It's raw hate. And you don't have to go to Free Republic to find it. Check out The Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/hilary-rosen-was-right-ann-romney-doesnt-speak-for-women-in-the-workforce/2012/04/13/gIQAqv3jFT_allComments.html?ctab=all_comments

It's the comments page that tells the tale. Like I said, Free Republic would have been too easy. This is what "people" are saying on The Washington Post.

Depends on how you define 'charity'.

The Romneys gave $1.5 million to their own 'charitable' foundation (unspent assets in 2010, $10+ million).

They took a charitable deduction for a $100,000 donation to 'The Friends of the George W. Bush Library.'

They took a charitable deduction for a $10,000 donation to Harvard Business School.

They took a charitable deduction for a $10,000 donation to the US. Equestrian Foundation.

There was nothing in the Romneys' 2010 tax return under charitable donations that could be identified as going to help the poor or the disadvantaged.

But the Harvard Business School and the horse club where she lunches with her lady friends need help too!

There are idiots on newspaper comment boards, as a matter of routine--they should be expected. The comments worth reading are from people like those, above!

But the balance is that the well-written stuff, with proper spelling and punctuation, is the stuff telling the morons that they are full of crap.

That glass is at least half full.

Divorcees and single mothers were treated like sluts. My best friend, who was a babysitter after school, wasn't allowed by her parents to baby sit for a divorcee or single mother of any sort, unless she was a widow. I don't know why unless it's because they thought the slutiness would rub off. The circumstances didn't matter. A woman with children and no man around was a whore as far as society was concerned. I imagine your mother had a hard time too. She's seems like an extraordinary person.

Along with the racism still festering in our society, so is misogynism. It took the Trayvon Martin tragedy and now this Ann Romney dust up to make it all come boiling up to the surface. We have a lot of uprooting of 'traditional values' to do.
