Look I still think he is a bit of republican hack but he has exchanged emails
w/me this evening about what he thought and his question for A. L. Grimes
along w/some other issues and he came across as a nice guy and answered
my questions and comments ..... now I might disagree with his stance on things
but he came across as a good sport.
Elwood P. Dowd: Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

update
The responses here are kind of sad .... in my email exchange to Mr. Todd I was very critical of him and called him
out for carrying the water for republicans ...... I was very upfront in my criticisms and called him out for very specific
times I thought he was being a hack and my point in this posting was that in his emails* he came across as a good sport
and he took his time to answer a random person and I have to give him props for that.
* I have no reason to believe that it was not Mr. Todd writing the emails.

(14,177 posts)There are people who have horrible ideas and worse political opinions yet they are pleasant. I think pleasant is overrated. But, it is appreciated.

(50,165 posts)He may be able to carry on a polite email exchange, it doesn't, in any way, change what he is, imo.

(17,656 posts)And once you are bought and paid for, you have to do their bidding.
Todd is just jealous of Alison Grimes because she is younger than he is, smarter than he is, taller than him, better looking than him, and she has went farther in politics in a shorter period of time than he ever could, if he ever had the guts to run for public office his own damned self!!
I'm not saying that Chuck is a total asshole for what he said about Alison Grimes.
Because I think that is obvious!!!
Why bother stating the obvious, ya know?
Major Hogwash
(17,656 posts)But, I'll bet you won't hear Todd even mention the fact that the Republicans shut down the federal government last year OR that it cost the federal government $24 Billion dollars!!!!!!!!!

(17,656 posts)Talk about a ginormous asshole!!
If McConnell really wanted the federal government to be shut down, then he shouldn't be running for office this year to be one of the people that manages the business of the federal government!!!
And that's all that Grimes needs to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell is McTurtle going to say about it??
He'll just mumblefuck his way to an answer and not even answer the question!!

(55,894 posts)You'd know his name immediately if I said it.
Anyway, I wanted to ask him a pointed question but my father asked me not to.
But in the course of the time this person was here I learned he is basically just a working guy trying to pay for his house in the Hamptons.
It's just a job to these people. Integrity has zero to do with it. They do what they are told the same way someone at a grocery store stocks shelves.

(115,607 posts)and still be a useless hack. Anyhow, the person with whom you exchanged e-mails was probably not Mr. Toad himself but an assistant whose job it is to manage Mr. Toad's public relations. Mr. T. is too important to have to communicate directly with hoi polloi.
Chathamization
(1,638 posts)voting for people with horrible records because theyre so nice, they really care about people, theyre a good person, etc. If we cared about actions instead of how affable someone comes off in the 3 minutes they speak to someone we might actually have decent politicians instead of used car salesmen.
This thread suggests that this might also be why we have such a horrible media (though I think a lot of that is people hearing someone on TV saying smart and informed people think this, crazy idiots dont, and thinking they better be smart and informed).

(4,524 posts)He's another reporter who refuses to ask tough questions and hold politicians accountable. I guess it's not really fair to single him out, since most reporters are like that these days, but still.
