I usually like watching shows like Frazier and the Golden Girls on the Hallmark channel but from October 31 to January 1 I usually avoid the Hallmark channel. Kmart likes to get their crowd out early for layaway so they are doing very subtle Christmas ads. I have not seen a Christmas tree at our local Kohl's store yet though. I'm wondering when they will put that up.

And even say "merry Christmas" to strangers. I know horrors! But this Christmas creep getting earlier and earlier is annoying. I know they joke about Christmas in July, but soon we may see advertising for it during that month.

I have started using light bulbs that have more white daylight look to then rather than a soft white or yellow look. I plan on buying another lamp for the living room this year, and we always put up a Christmas tree with lots of lights. But yeah the Christmas creep is too much for me. I have started doing more and more of my Christmas shopping online and doing my bargain shopping on Cyber Monday as opposed to Black Friday.

You don't have to spend money for a holiday you don't care about. #BahHumbug

They don't want to miss out on the best day of the year. You can definitely have a religious free Christmas easily.

Maybe it's different if you have family and/or friends you're looking to celebrate with. I have neither. Family yes, but none that I want to celebrate anything with. And I'd rather catch Ebola than smooch anyone under the mistletoe.

Also never liked shopping centers and don't trust buying online. Saves me money not buying worthless crap, plus I don't have anyone to give it to and don't really care. I don't think it should be a federal holiday either, because of first amendment issues; i.e. why should federal offices be mandatorily closed on "Christ"mas (you can't really get rid of all the religion in it; it's not Aristotlemas or Nietzschemas) but not Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana, Eid al-Fitr or Augustus Caesar's birthday? If you want to take it off I think it should be allowed (like any other religion, you have the right to take what basically amounts to a "personal day&quot . But if you want to come in (I'm a workaholic with nothing else to do on that day, and so I'd probably want to go in), you should be allowed to.

Not everyone has family (or wants them) and not everybody cares. Besides, Christmas has nothing to do with the workings of the country or its history, so it makes no sense for it to be a federal holiday. They should swap it with 9/11, or Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day if they want to keep a holiday in December.
