Driving home from work tonight will effect the 2014 elections even more. All those getting seriously injured and killed tonight on our roads and highways won't be voting either. Of course they won't make the national news.

this outbreak. The Black Plague, ironically, brought us the Renaissance. WWI spread the pandemic of the Spanish Influenza.

I think this outbreak could have some extraordinary effects that we don't anticipate...

How many patients are there in this country. Are they being treated at medical establishments? How many people have they infected? How many infected people are running around untreated?

upaloopa, we have here what is called "a wise fear." We do need to ask questions, as you just did, but we do need to be vigilant. There is a balance and I am not at all in favor of panic. In fact, that is the LAST thing we need. This requires diligence and it requires steady thinking. We can't err on the other side of either.

And right now the government doesn't look like they have a handle on this virus.

For months the CDC and the government has been telling us that they were prepared to handle this. That they can contain the virus should it pop up in America. But now they admit they aren't prepared. And you have an infected nurse flying on a plane from Texas to Ohio. Polls show 2/3rds of the country want travel from west Africa restricted, and that number will only continue to grow the longer the virus continues to spread.

This is not an epidemic. It isn't even a threat to the public as a whole. It is a media event.

Have the screeners give Ebola checks also ?
This is something we need to educate ourselves on but it isn't as serious as the hype the media is making it out to be.
The government isn't our savior if last resort.

are suffering from austerity cuts. We keep spending trillions on war and cutting critical money for public services. Will either party back down on going to war with IS so we can start funding our public services again. I kind of doubt it.
