You don't remember the video of the upper class white woman imperiously dismissing two cops that were harassing a black man?

They acted like little puppies to her, classic authoritarian kiss up kick down.

The treatment of many protesters here at the hands of police give protests from the United States about police conduct in suppressing demonstrations a distinct 'do as I say, not as I do' air. I will grant you that what happens after the initial beating and arrest will be considerably worse in China or Iran, but that is a different question.

Defending US brutality by declaring it may be less than elsewhere is NOT a winning argument (and may not even be true).

they will be expressing concern about mass surveillance, brutal suppression of protest, intimidation/criminalization of journalism, and persecution of whistleblowers in other countries, too!

God, the hypocrisy.

that is so bad in comparison to US police? The article linked in the OP didn't mention anything as bad as the behavior of US police, but that doesn't mean the Chinese police haven't done worse things.

You have to admit man, no matter if it's real or satire it's damn funny.

I still think Jean Quan should have been a keynote speaker at the DNC, give some fine points on crowd control.

A Fed judge has already told the cops that the 5 Second Rule is Un-Constitutional.

How many others have been killed in similar circumstances that he DOJ didn't bother investigating?

Protests do matter!

To understand AG Holder’s legacy, you have to start with some awareness of just how much Dubya’s admin f*cked up DOJ’s Civil Rights Division

Holder, per #DOJ official, has no immediate plans to step down and wants to focus on causes like #Ferguson during remaining days.
