The hospital said in a statement that it "admitted a patient late Wednesday night for evaluation of Ebola-like symptoms. We have not confirmed or ruled-out any diagnosis at this point. We are working in cooperation with City, State and Federal health officials. There is no further information available at this time."

Patient is a student who came back from Africa. Fingers crossed that this is just another false alarm.

Even before Duncan's diagnosis a number of people had been evaluated. Since Duncan, that number has skyrocketed, and is getting way more media attention. Fortunately, it appears that all those cases have been negative, at least thus far.

4. I'd much rather have a lot of false alarms than those real cases that go undetected for too long...

At least false alarms shows our system is working at some level to try and detect the spread of the disease, even if getting it wrong a number of times.

Over time the process will be refined to get help minimize these false alarms, but I'm glad that we're more cautious than necessary than less cautious than necessary.

I have family down in CT also. They are in Niantic but go to New Haven to visit their father's relatives all the time.

I'm from New London County also.

I'm not worried, like I said just hope it's a false alarm, and my Dad's company is shut down this week so he's home.

and I'd go over to the hospital frequently to have lunch with a friend in the cafeteria.

I still know people who work there.

I've lived in MA for a long time now but was born in the then Grace-New Haven Community Hospital (GWB & I both in 1946, lol)

Lived in New Haven and then Cheshire. I feel a strong connection to CT and have a love for it too.

Should keep anyone else from getting it if the student(s) have it.

Wonderful kids they are if they volunteered to go over and study.....
