I've been getting e-mails from President Obama, Michelle, Biden, Reid, Pelosi, my Dem State Senator, my local Congressman and others running for Congress in Illinois and the Governor. I'm also getting begging requests from the DSCC, DNC and the DCCC.
Quite frankly - they are becoming annoying.
Now I know the stakes for this upcoming election. I've contributed. But repeated requests on a daily basis and sometimes multiple requests on the same day from the same individual or group is really becoming annoying.
I know I'm probably on some list as a contributor and that's why all these people and groups are barraging me with e-mails - but this just seems to be overly excessive.
What is embarrassing is the way these e-mails are worded and the actual begging that is going on. And I'm not exaggerating here - one of the e-mails from a local Congressman actually said - "I'm begging you.......

(10,103 posts)I get them, too, and I'm Canadian.
I really resent the 'hair on fire' tone of most of them, too.

(25,241 posts)their requests for the money. I don't see ads encouraging the American People to GOTV or the importance of this election in maintaining the Senate and maybe taking the House. The ads you see are of Dems trying to save their jobs and not expressing the importance of this election on the macro level. I don't see the same people that I've mentioned in my OP out on the campaign trail stressing the importance of the big issues that may get swept under the rug - if the Repubs take the Senate and maintain the House. No mention of maybe a SCOTUS appointment in the next two years and how important it would be to the Dems having the President's back on a nomination and appointment.
I just don't know how the Repubs have any support as they are on the wrong side of every major issue that affects the American People, They shut down the government. They are obstructing every thing that could help really fuel this economy and yet we see polls all over that the Repubs are poised to take the Senate.
Repub Governors are wrecking havoc on the States they control - yet the races for the Governorships in those same states are running too close to call. How can this be? Are we really that stupid? I just don't get it?

(146,286 posts)I donate to my choice of candidates and organizations, based on my own research. So fundraising campaigns are wasted on me.

(14,337 posts)I read somewhere that his donations are far exceeding the current Governor. Plus, Morgan and Morgan must have contributed nicely to his campaign. Just with that, he doesn't need my measly $5.00.
Only thing I have gotten emails from him are about making sure I get out and VOTE. All the campaign $$$ won't help if people don't vote.

(60,334 posts)And I didn't open one of them.
I use a free account as a honey trap for all potential annoyances, corporate advertising as well as political begging.
It's the same philosophy as having a junk account for the ATM card, limiting the damage anyone can do.
I do check the junk account to see if it's full, then delete everything, just like I check the junk ATM account to see if it's empty and if there aren't a bunch of iffy charges, I fill it back up.

(6,262 posts)That worked. However, last night I used ActBlue to donate to Mary Burke, so the spam will probably start up again.

(10,044 posts)And for some reason, I have never been unable to donate something, but I am now.
My share of medical bills, helping family with other bills, vet, for instance. Washer went bad, microwave, can opener, food chopper, and now the cellphones, and am waiting for repayment of some loans.....if there will be any.

(3,709 posts)I emailed the DNC back yesterday and told them I was offended by their strong arm tactics and their efforts to make me feel guilty and ashamed that I haven't donated to them. I usually do but from the very beginning these emails have been aggressive, so this time.. I gave directly to the candidates I chose and not to the Party.
I just got one that even listed the emails I should have gotten from other prominent Democrats.... Geez.....

(31,810 posts)Not at all. But I blocked/sent to trash all of the leadership fundraising email addresses in November of last year.

(5,477 posts)I stopped donating to most of them when they started spamming.
And I try to make it abundantly clear to them that we NEVER make any donations of any kind based on telephone cold calls or email spam.
