Breaking - Nigeria -truce with Boko Harum -schoolgirls will be freed

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-29665165
<snip>
Nigeria's military says it has agreed a truce with Islamist militant group Boko Haram - and says the schoolgirls the group has abducted will be released.

Boko Haram sparked global outrage six months ago by abducting more than 200 schoolgirls.

The truce was announced by Nigeria's chief of defence staff. There has been no word from Boko Haram.

The military has struggled to defeat Boko Haram, which has fought an insurgency since 2009.

The girls were seized in the north-eastern town of Chibok, and their continued captivity has led to criticism of the Nigerian government's efforts to secure their release.

Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh revealed the truce at the close of a three-day security meeting between Nigeria and Cameroon. He said Nigerian soldiers would comply with the agreement.

Aren't they often thrown out of the families (or shunned) if they've been violated through no fault of their own, or do I have them mixed up with another area? So many beliefs from so many areas.

That is, they are part of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria. During the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference in Columbus in July, Rebecca Dali came to give us a first-hand account of the situation. The girls will be welcomed back to their families. This is very good news, and I will be looking for the name of Ruth Amos, the girl our congregation has been in prayer and fasting for in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Nigeria.

When they were taken, I feared their lives were ruined from here on out. I'm sure they will never be the same, but at least they will have the love of family to help them through their recovery.

I GUARANTEE you will see some form of that sentiment from some right-winger before the end of the day.

No war profits here - I think the fact that the worst of Ebola is in countries where health care infrastructure has been destroyed by civil wars should be reason enough for a truce.

But at least they are free and alive. I really hope that the families and communities do the right thing and welcome them home with open arms.

Somehow, I don't think B.H. is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

Many were Christians and forced to convert to Islam. If they try to go back to their Christian beliefs, they will be regarded as apostates and become targets for Islamic zealots.
