GOP VALUEs: They should be left on their own to die-unless they can find a church with a food pantry

Joni Ernst wants to make America squeal

“What we have to do a better job of is educating not only Iowans, but the American people that they can be self-sufficient. They don’t have to rely on the government to be the do-all, end-all for everything they need and desire, and that’s what we have fostered, is really a generation of people that rely on the government to provide absolutely everything for them. It’s going to take a lot of education to get people out of that. It’s going to be very painful and we know that. So do we have the intestinal fortitude to do that?…

“We’re looking at Obamacare right now. Once we start with those benefits in January, how are we going to get people off of those? It’s exponentially harder to remove people once they’ve already been on those programs…we rely on government for absolutely everything. And in the years since I was a small girl up until now into my adulthood with children of my own, we have lost a reliance on not only our own families, but so much of what our churches and private organizations used to do. They used to have wonderful food pantries. They used to provide clothing for those that really needed it. But we have gotten away from that. Now we’re at a point where the government will just give away anything.”

Apparently Joni Ernst doesn`t know about all the help many churches offer to the needy. There`s no "used to" about it because churches still help. She ought to visit Vermont where churches all over the place offer free community meals on a regular basis, not to mention winter coat swaps, thrift shops, etc. However, I don`t agree with a person having to be affiliated with a church in order to receive help.

Some poor people don`t have a working vehicle that could get them to a church food pantry, if there even is one way out in the sticks where they live. Some needy people can`t drive their wheelchairs in the snow....in order to get to a church food pantry. Some elderly people can`t walk the distance to a church food pantry. Many children go to bed hungry at night so they probably wouldn`t have the energy to walk eleven miles to the church....if they even had a church.

Why would Ms. Ernst want to get people off Obamacare? Has she ever been desperately ill with no insurance?

I don`t understand people who think this way. It`s shameful. Maybe Joni Ernst wouldn`t mind seeing a family living in their wrecked station wagon on her way to getting her hair done, but I sure as hell would.

Take away everything from Joni Ernst.

Set her down in the street, and say: "Go. Find *everything* you need from the Government. See what you get."

Then sit back on a bench and munch on some popcorn while watch Joni run around like a chicken with her head cut off and discover the Government doesn't do much of anything for you these days.

She can probably get food stamps - but I bet in a State like Iowa she will have to wait a few weeks to start getting food. Good luck getting stuff like shelter, transportation, heat and electricity, hygiene products, and basic necessities.

I bet a lot of that Church pantry stuff still exists in Iowa - maybe Joni can get a free meal and some clothing there. But those churches as "providers" are rapidly dissolving elsewhere. And Government is not stepping up to replace them, thanks to idiots like Joni getting in the way and refusing to see the need to DO SOMETHING.

Joni needs to be educated because she's just talking out of her posterior right now.
