Ebola PANIC: Florida inmate claims he has Ebola causing courthouse to clear and prison to lockdown

Florida inmate claims he has Ebola in police report, causing courthouse to temporarily clear

It’s the man who cried Ebola.

Joseph Britton, an inmate in Broward County’s main jail, disrupted a bond court hearing Friday morning after a judge read Britton's police report in which he claimed he has Ebola. He made the claim when he was arrested on Thursday.

"The defendant’s statements were documented to show his intent to create a disturbance," read a For Lauderdale Police Department statement obtained by The Daily News. "There were other vulgar statements made by the defendant which were also noted in the arrest affidavit. The arresting officers did not observe any symptoms that led them to believe that the defendant had the Ebola virus, and the defendant ultimately denied making the claim."

The claim caused the courtroom to be cleared out around 9:15 a.m. — while Britton stayed behind, alone, according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel.

The entire prison was on lockdown earlier in the day and was not accepting prisoners who were arrested by other agencies. Staff were told they couldn't leave the area.

An example from my locale:

Horseshoe Casino Cleveland customer arrested after comment about Ebola

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A disgruntled gambler is facing criminal charges after he reportedly made a comment about his wife being infected with Ebola while at Horseshoe Casino Cleveland on Wednesday.

Cleveland police arrested the 60-year-old man at his home on the city's West Side, a police spokesperson said.

The man had been gambling at the casino Wednesday and had been losing money. When he went to cash out, he made a comment indicating his wife was a nurse and had just returned from West Africa infected with Ebola.

<snip>

The suspect is in custody and likely will face a felony charge of inducing panic, according to police.

I hope that those who seek to create panic are punished swiftly and severely in order to dissuade others from such hateful, reckless acts.

The media has created such a panic that idiots are using it as a tool to cause chaos.

will be pulling this stunt until either the ebola thing goes away or the boy-who-cried-wolf attitude sets in and someone who really has it isn't believed and spreads it.

People are so stupid sometimes.

check his travel schedule, then put him in quarantine for 21 days. See how much he likes making false claims then.
