Good boy in a bad 'hood: Mike Mike, as the family called him (pictured with brother Andre, now 7 and sister Deja, now 14) had won a place at college and was told by his mother to 'do what he wanted this summer' as a reward. He chose to stay at his grandmother's house where the aspiring rapper had a makeshift studio

Michael Brown was an 18-year-old black man who was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9, 2014. Brown was unarmed.
Brown was visiting his grandmother, Desuirea Harrison, when he was shot in the working-class St. Louis suburb. He graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis in the spring of 2014, and was scheduled to start classes at Vatterott College, a Missouri trade college, two days after he was killed.
BROWN'S DEATH WAS SEEN AS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO THE BLACK COMMUNITY OR THEIR OWN SONS[/]

That is a fact.
Will they? Will they ever respect the humanity of ALL THE PEOPLE!?
They try to take their dignity
They want them to feel shame
They shoot them with their bullets
Then never take the blame
They fear and cower my life is endangered
Those that have been trained to power
They use it and so boldly abuse it
They shoot and kill at will
I for one am ashamed
Another sweet black child is dead
And it is damn well resting on your soul

(4,309 posts)This country needs to take a good hard look at the real, HEARTBREAKING, basic human tragedy that has taken place. I'm not optimistic that it will.

(4,309 posts)And until we elect progressive candidates who will hold cops accountable and make them pay for their crimes this will never end.
The thought of right wing Republican wins in this election scares the hell out of me. More of the same.... anti-minority, anti-women, anti-worker, pro-war, etc. Just disgusting. Fundamental change - that is EXACLTLY what this country needs.

Odd how that works.
