James O'Keefe, the conservative provocateur, has been on the prowl in Colorado, the setting of a close Senate race between Democratic incumbent Mark Udall and GOP Rep. Cory Gardner, as well as a nip-and-tuck governor's contest. Last week, O'Keefe and two of his collaborators tried to bait Democratic field staffers into approving voter fraud involving Colorado's universal vote-by-mail program, according to three Democratic staffers who interacted with O'Keefe or his colleagues.
Last Tuesday, a man who appeared to be in his 20s showed up at a Democratic field office in Boulder wanting to volunteer to help elect Udall and Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), according to a Democratic staffer who met with him and asked not to be identified. The man introduced himself as "Nick Davis," and he said he was a University of Colorado-Boulder student and LGBT activist involved with a student group called Rocky Mountain Vote Pride. Davis mentioned polls showing the race between Udall and Gardner was tight, and he asked the staffer if he should fill out and mail in ballots for other college students who had moved away but still received mail on campus. The Democratic staffer says he told Davis that doing this would be voter fraud and that he should not do it.

(22,109 posts)Using some bait he'd find impossible to refuse. Like an interview with a "rebel" in Syria who has some hard evidence on President Obama that would cause a political earthquake, but they will only give to O'Keefe. In Syria.
Well, one can dream. lol

(45,274 posts)Sell them on the idea of collecting registrations in black areas & burning them or something. $1 for every burned registration. Since the Republicans have already done this sort of thing, it should be no problem to sell them on it again on camera.

(3,248 posts)The whole set-up to this little "sting" operation relies on the assumption that people will do anything--lie, cheat, steal, break campaign laws--to win.
The party that gerrymanders, suppresses votes, and actually gets caught participating in voter frauds is the one that keeps screaming about liberals cheating to win elections.
Once again, if you want to know what they're up to, look at what they accuse/assume liberals are doing.

"Any child who says the emperor is naked is possessed by a demon and is trying to damn us all!"
Thus ensuring that their audience will only see what they want to see, and anyone who tells the truth is pre-defined as a fool or a threat.

Whenever he is found the proper response would be to call the po-po immediately and file a police report that he is attempting to solicit election fraud. Get it all on video.
Someone is going to have to catch O'Queefe red handed and on video before he gets any sort of consequences. He's got wealthy sugar daddies keeping him out of jail.

(1,150 posts)He's a fringe radical. Period. He goes around trying recklessly to provoke people into committing crimes. Then, when he fails, he edits his recordings of these attempts to make it appear as though he succeeded. In my mind, he's a criminal thug with no redeeming value in his 'political' activities. If people who call themselves 'conservative' look to people like him for stuff that they consider valuable to the advancement of their political agendas, then, as to them, the word conservative is utterly off base. They're also fringe radicals.
I'm very 'liberal' with respect to respecting and appreciating diversity in society, in thought and in deed. I keep an open mind about most things, since I've found that life experience does result in shifting perspectives, and the alternative is being dead.
However, I'm 'conservative' in how I personally go about most things in my life. I tend to take small steps as I get a feel for possible goals, I am careful to respect how my behavior might affect those around me, and I try not to take small setbacks too hard, because I've found that life has far more of them than successes.
That's conservative. I'm a liberal conservative, in that sense. It really is time to retire the term 'conservative' as a reference to modern ultra-right wing radicals.

(5,082 posts)Me too...the definitions of conservative have been turned on their head but make no mistake a large portion of Republicans have run off like lemmings into Whackadoodle Land.

It would explain, though, why he's prone to cry out "Wolverines!" without any apparent reference to Red Dawn.
