Nurses dog tests negative for Ebola

DALLAS — When Dallas nurse Nina Pham was diagnosed with Ebola earlier this month, her dog was placed in quarantine. Now the King Charles Spaniel named Bentley has tested negative for the Ebola virus.

"At this time, this specimen collection process is only expected to happen three times within the remainder of the quarantine period," Dallas Animal Services said in a statement released on Sunday. "This is the least invasive and safest way to conduct the testing process for Bentley."

Bentley was seized from Pham's apartment on October 11 and is being quarantined at the Hensley Field Services Center on West Jefferson Avenue.

The Centers for Disease Control says there have been no reports of dogs or cats falling ill with Ebola, nor is there any evidence that pets can spread the virus to other people or pets.

on the hard to find, but they are usually informative and not an exercise of jumping through someones hoops because they are too lazy to do a little digging. I always check everything. I take no ones word for anything ever and I don't scream for links, I check for myself.

I'm glad that Pham and Bentley will be reunited eventually, as signs appear to be pointing to the positive for her recovery!

This is good news as well: "nor is there any evidence that pets can spread the virus to other people or pets."

And suspect it was purely politics considering Spain decided to kill the infected Spanish nurse's dog for no damn reason.

There's no evidence that there is any dog to human or human to dog infection of Ebola. All that was ever suspected is that dogs might be able to become infected themselves by eating bush meat or scavenging and eating things infected with Ebola but do not show any symptoms. So what in the world was the dog quarantined in the first place for? Seems to me the only reason for it was politics.

Incidentally, this is just one test of several that are being done on the dog periodically throughout his 21 quarantine period. His testing negative now doesn't mean he's out of quarantine. He'll still be in quarantine for the full 21 days. Says that right in the second paragraph. He still has to complete a 21 day quarantine that made no sense to begin with.
