Senate Dems going back into Kentucky

Alexander Bolton

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is jumping back into the Kentucky Senate race after stopping its TV ad buy last week.

A DSCC official confirmed the committee plans to spend another $650,000 on TV to bolster Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes against Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.).

According a Democratic source tracking ad buys, Senate Majority PAC is also poised to go back on the air with a purchase in the high six figures.

Though McConnell has maintained a lead in most public polls, Democrats say the race has tightened over the past few days.

there are times when I am completely mystified as to why people vote for who they vote for. Why would anyone in KY vote for the turtle...he's a joke.

There are several such sites, but my personal favorite is electoral-vote.com. The color-coding on the national map shows you the status of each Senate race, based on the average of the most recent week of polling. You can click on a particular state to see the detailed breakdown, i.e., all the polls going back several months presented graphically in chrono order.

Another nice option is the Rasmussen-free map, showing you the status of each Senate race based on the average of all polls other than (R)asmussen.

On that subject, here's the graph for Kentucky. Note that the big McConnell spike a few days ago is a (R)asmussen poll. Excluding that one poll cuts McConnell's lead in the composite average from four points to two.

Those ahead rarely release internal polls and the firm has a bad track record.
