Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWow.....How Many Threads in GD Decrying Democratic GOTV?
I mean, look....I get it. The constant Dem emails can be annoying.
Especially when you can't figure out the "Unsubscribe" button.
I mean, the emails are annoying when you think about it....constant reminders to do, donate, GOTV, get off your ass and vote on Election Day.
And the links!!!! To your local Dems who need support, to news, to organizations that need volunteers! Who has time for this shit?
So I totally get why people are complaining. You know, instead of writing thoughtful OPs on the legacy of the Iraq War as embodied by the convictions in the Blackwater case today.
I mean, Fuck Eric Holder, right????
########################################
Here's the thing....some small measure of Justice got handed out today. Four killers will pay for their murders....murders commissioned by Blackwater. And that was made possible by a federal jury, in front of a federal judge, in a federal courthouse.
If you think elections DO NOT MATTER.....then just reflect on who seats judges, who pays for courthouses, and juries, and everything else that makes Justice happen.
GOTV. Even with the annoying emails.

(24,544 posts)Every time I see that dumb assed "paid operative" garbage tossed at supporters of the Dem president on a Dem message board (Prosense got it more than anyone has or probably ever will) all it did was confirm beyond all irrefutable doubt that the person tossing the insult out was as dumb, without clue and irrelevant as they could be.
The remaining handfuls (and yes, THANK GOD their numbers seem to dwindle more by the week) that still do the "Obama is a corporate, right wing sell out, Dems/Repubs are the same" spew never seem to be brunt of that particularly idiotic taunt even though that would make far more sense. Once it was checking in voters, the other time my job was to assist people with the machines. I always did a quick run-through showing them where they could see their vote went onto paper when I showed someone to the seat, so they'd feel confident using the machine (it was the first election we had no paper ballots for those who wanted to use paper, and only had one voter who was really nervous about not voting on paper that year.)

I decided not to bitch here and just start unsubscribing, but it seems like the Obama fundraisers shared my info with what seems like a boggling number of other lists to get money out of me. It got really annoying when one asked "Are you still using this email address? Because you haven't donated!"

OUR party, the Democratic Party, is FAILING to compose a message that resonates with it's base ... it relies instead on weird, extreme pronouncements of doom and gloom ...
Even if we DID unsubscribe, we would do so with the knowledge that our party, the Democratic Party, haven't a clue as to how to engage the very citizens it purports to represent. ...

(49,212 posts)If you're pissing off your most enthusiastic donors you suck at marketing.
How did the Obama campaign turn people out in 2008? By saying that a big historic thing was happening and getting people excited about being a part of it. The marketing for this midterm seems to be the exact opposite. 'This is going to suck, give me $5' is not an inspirational message and it's not going to do shit for turnout.

(37,428 posts)...is that our Dems are demonstrably chasing money instead of real issues.
It's not that they can't do a lot of both. It's that they shouldn't have to chase money at all in order to do their damned jobs. Clean elections would give candidates and those in office so much free time that they could actually legislate.
The system that forces Dems to email me fifty times a day adking me for money also guarantees that only someone, or some organization, with much more money will hold their attention.
