Dr. Spencer, NY's possible Ebola patient, was suffering both 103 fever and GI symptoms.

He called in to report his fever on Thursday, after having some unspecified symptoms since Tuesday.

And there are numerous reports that he took an Uber car to go bowling on Wednesday night.

As CBS 2’s Lou Young reported, Dr. Craig Spencer lives on the fifth floor of the building on West 147th Street near Broadway. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital by EMS crews just after noon Thursday after reporting to the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene that he was suffering from a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms.

Statement on Patient at Bellevue Hospital, Oct. 23, 2014, 3:05pm

Today, EMS HAZ TAC Units transferred to Bellevue Hospital a patient who presented a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms.

The patient is a health care worker who returned to the U.S. within the past 21 days from one of the three countries currently facing the outbreak of this virus.

The patient was transported by a specially trained HAZ TAC unit wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). After consulting with the hospital and the CDC, DOHMH has decided to conduct a test for the Ebola virus because of this patient’s recent travel history, pattern of symptoms, and past work. DOHMH and HHC are also evaluating the patient for other causes of illness, as these symptoms can also be consistent with salmonella, malaria, or the stomach flu.

Preliminary test results are expected in the next 12 hours.

Yes, it does. So we will no doubt have a lot of false alarms. But that's better than sending pnwmom Oct 2014 #2

I see where he came from and thus the concern.

Having said that, do you get a fever and GI with the flu, you do, right?

So we are only looking at those symptoms AND someone who has recently come from a country infected etc.

Makes sense ....I just read the part that he just came from Guinea with Doctors/Borders, etc.

accompanied by aches and fevers.

And - it is not just coming from a country where infections are rampant, he was treating people with Ebola.

He is having symptoms of Ebola. Therefore it's very reasonable to suspect he has Ebola.
