because we are human, not because of ebola.
have a happy and relaxed Friday and donate to MSF if you can

(149,567 posts)My Friday is good, and I wish you the same!
As the saying has it, more people have been married to Kim Kardashian than have died from ebola here in the USA.
And I give to MSF monthly. They are doing such important and dangerous work, often in places where nobody else will go!

(24,853 posts)My valley is at 7,000 feet above sea level. Three lanes up, three down. No real hospital to speak of... No one with Ebola will be coming here.
Zero worries on that.

(14,733 posts)Some people just have a better idea of exactly when they'll die than others.
As someone pointed out, though, our 'survival rate' for ebola patients in the US is a hell of a lot better than the posted '50-90%' lethal rate. I think it's become more obvious that the disease is NOT as lethal as it has been proclaimed, AS LONG AS you realize you've got it early on and get modern care. That the extremely high death rates were more a function of lack of any real ability to provide supportive care while the disease ran its course in outbreaks occurring in Africa.
Which also reinforces the idea that the best thing we can do going forward is put a lot of money into ramping up the medical infrastructure capabilities of African nations.
