puts it in perspective:

Think for a moment about the concept of the flamethrower. Okay? The flamethrower. Because we have them. Well, *we* don't have them, the army has them. That's right. We don't have any flamethrowers. I'd say we're fucked if we have to go up against the army, wouldn't you?

To think that Iowa ranks near the top in Public Education. What the hell happened here. Is it the old screaming idiot gets all the grease? Or is it the Des Moines Register backing another Bachnman type? Have heard there are some of the same POS's in or around her campaign. Looking more and more like the Minnesota sixth garbage campaign by the Marcus and Idiot.

The idea that the government would use stealth bombers and carrier task groups on its own citizens is just crazy. First of all, they wouldn't even help the government accomplish an objective.

What's an aircraft carrier going to do about anything? I suppose it could drop its anchor and park itself in a waterway. Maybe their planes could take off really loudly next to someones home if an some anti-government subversive lives on a coast. If you're insinuating the US would bomb it's citizenry, you're just nuts. Yes, even more nuts than these "hands off my gun extremists." Bombs are indiscriminate and are likely to just generate more sympathy for any rebellion.

Newsflash, there's a reason Obama wanted us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. That reason is that low tech insurgencies work against the militaries and law enforcement models our government.

If you'll think about it, you'll see that the same war making model would work here in the US also. The most obvious everyday representation of our government to the normal person is cops. Cops often patrol our cities in very small numbers. Usually it's one or two cops in an unarmored car driving around doing cop shit. How many cops would you have to kill before the remaining cops refused to do their jobs? 20? 50? 100? more than that?

Even today, 1 cop was killed and 1 wounded in the ambush up in Pennsylvania. That guy is still at large, and our government is spending MILLIONS and employing hundreds of highly trained people to try and find that guy. That's not even taking into account the 2 small pressure cooker bombs shut down Boston for a week.

Joni Ernst is an idiot, and I fear the fact that she may get elected. However, guns in the hands of the citizens is a big threat to our government and our way of life if these people ever seriously organized. I am sure that people in our government know this and act accordingly.

As long as you stay anonymous and hidden, you can do pretty much what you want.

If those two guys had more money available, and they did a few things like change cars, they'd still be shooting random people at gas stations today.

The rest of it is a discussion, since DU is a discussion board. If it was an agreeing board, i wouldn't have posted anything.

The premise that guns would be totally ineffective at affecting our government, since our government has bigger guns, is just wrong.
