WATCH: Bystanders at Dallas Airport stop antigay attack by piling on drunk bully

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/10/watch-bystanders-at-dallas-airport-stop-antigay-attack-by-piling-on-drunk-bully/

In the video embedded below, an apparently intoxicated man attacks another passenger who he believes is gay. Within seconds, a number of bystanders leap into action to take the attacker down and hold him until police can handcuff him and lead him away.

The video is dated Thursday, October 23, and shows an unnamed angry man bellowing and threatening another passenger who is wearing a jacket and a pink shirt.

A tall man in a black cowboy hat approaches and asks the angry man what he’s upset about.

“Queers!” the man shouted. “That’s what I’m upset about. This faggot right here.”

After a tense exchange, the angry man kicks the man in the pink shirt, then slaps at him and grabs his hair.

A number of people rush to intervene as the man is tackled and put on the floor.

The man in the cowboy hat can be heard saying loudly, “No way! No way, you motherfucker. You ain’t doin’ that fucking shit, motherfucker.”

Indeed.

Watch the video, embedded below via passenger Andrew Kennedy: (at link)

This fool, without any provocation that we can see, kicked a man in his giblets after screaming that he was a "faggot." Got himself tackled by half an airport, damn near hog tied by the cops and in a drunken/high/idiotic stupor started smiling about all of this. What was mocking about saying he "had a beautiful smile but was a bad boy?" I am far more in line with the person who yelled at him to shut the hell up.

But perhaps I'm a bit jaded. I saw this story just a few minutes after reading this http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/14/media-black-victims_n_5673291.html and I'm just sick of everything.

60. Oh, I definitely thought about that too. But I didn't see him kick the first guy, just the second.
Fri Oct 24, 2014, 09:28 PM
Oct 2014

He should be charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, etc. I got kinda confused. The guy he was carrying on about was by the counter with blonde hair, a pink shirt and black clothes. I just saw him fussing at that point. But he kicked a guy wearing all black. Then and a guy in a pink shirt gets out of his wheelchair with latex gloves and helps the cops take him down... So at first that was confusing. I couldn't make it all out and I played it several times trying to see the sequence, the who and what was happening.

But yeah, if he'd been black, it would have been different, all SWAT, and I already knew that he was being given privilege. By the black officers, but I think they thought he was another racist asshole who would soon learn the error of his ways. They bent him over hard as they were taking him away and he knew he wasn't going to given a pass by that time.

I don't know what the woman was that talked to him, if a passenger or an officer. If I'd been there I'd have insulted him so he didn't know it, and he was too stupid to get it, but everyone else would. So I don't see approval of him, just trying to get his goat. But as I said, he was too egotistical to see it as anything else but being complimented.

I've lived in Texas, and that is a way of insulting an self-entitled person, just like calling them 'macho.' That one is used a lot talking to guys. They think it means they were manly, but that's not at all what is meant when it's said.

You use their own little buzz words to make them feel you're on their side and they just lap it up with pride. Stupid, arrogant guys don't know when a woman is really insulting them.

I get your take, but her words as the 'Keep on smiling, you asshole' routine they will never understand. Then laugh behind their back when they leave. It's about the balance of power in a situation, and that jerk had none, and will soon have a lot less.

The balance of power and the future do not belong to people like him. Deep down he knows it, just the same as everyone else in the airport lobby did. He's a loser, trying to own what he never had, except in his immature mind. A real Tea Party freakazoid at the end of his reign.

But the NRA would fight to the death to make sure he had all the goddamn free access he wanted. Either for himself or from his friends who'd easily be able and probably very willing to get his guns for him. Because... SECOND AMENDMENT REMEDIES!!!!!!!!!

The "sanctity" of the fucking goddamn murderous Second Amendment. THAT's one "Amendment" that needs to be revisited, and thoroughly revised, updated, reconsidered, and rewritten. OR, maybe do what all those lovely "originalists" and "traditionalists" and other assholes with their fancy frank-luntz-approved word-manipulations - about the original intent. Well, if we're gonna go there, and consider ONLY original intent, we have to look at what Original Intent was armed with, back then in "Original Intent Land." What'd they fight with back then? Muskets and blunderbusses. So - as long as some Second Amendment lover insists on being armed, then let him or her have all the muskets and blunderbusses they can eat. Shouldn't that make the "originalists" and "traditionalists" happy?

I think we oughta take all those fancy-ass frank-luntz-approved word-manipulations and smash them back down these assholes' throats. Hijack them and turn them into OUR weapons, instead.

Pink is one of the most fascinating colours. It is its own colour.

What I mean by that is that if you mix white with any primary or secondary colour other than red you get a lighter version. Blue = light blue. Green = light green, etc....

If you mix Red with White you get Pink! You do not look at it as "light red". It is its own slightly bizarre other-worldly colour. It doesn't show up in an Earthly rainbow for instance. I'm actually a little envious that the gays and little girls have claimed, or been given, ownership of this strange beautiful powerful colour.

but I am wondering how it even got that far. The guy flung off his coat and was clearly escalating with what appear to be security type people, or at least airport workers there. Someone already had a camera going on him.... why not page security/police? In any case, good to see random people step up and do something.

Another curious thing.... Are the rules for serving alcohol different in airports? Whatever restaurant/bar let that guy get that drunk is also a problem.... unless they changed the rules since I was last TABC certified. Of course he could have been drunk before arriving there at the airport.

93. not just rules but laws for any bar that serves alcohol
Sat Oct 25, 2014, 04:13 AM
Oct 2014

It's the bartender's responsibility to recognize when someone has become too intoxicated and cut them off as well as try to convince them to stay for awhile so some of the drunk wears off, offer food since food helps to combat intoxication and try to get other patrons or the intoxicated person's friends (if they're there with friends) to help you in convincing the intoxicated person to remain for awhile not drinking alcohol to give a chance for them to sober up.

No one working in the bar nor the owner of the bar is permitted to take away their car keys or any thing else the intoxicated person owns even when they insist they're going to drive. The bartender has to know at what point in the scenario they need to involve the manager (if there is one... some of us have to work entirely alone in a bar) and when to call the police to keep them from driving.

I know of a club that years ago lost their liquor license (and still haven't gotten it back and may never) because someone (the bartender or manager or bouncer or owner) dropped the ball and allowed a customer who refused the taxi that was called for them and left driving their own car without calling the police. Low and behold, the drunk caused a car accident where he either killed someone or seriously injured someone - I can't recall which. The bar became a BYOB club for people of drinking age though they let in anyone at least 18 years old but have the responsibility to make sure the under age customers don't drink. I think they built a little stage and offer live bands or something to try to keep customers coming in. Oddly enough the bar is still responsible for the customers that bring in their own booze and still have to cut them off if they become too intoxicated. You can imagine how customers react to this. Not the sort of place I would ever want to have to work at.

The worst part is that most bars just want to keep the register ringing up sales and don't give a crap if someone leaves reeling drunk driving their car. Though it's your responsibility as a bartender to intervene most bars won't let you cut them off because of those few dollars they'd miss out on by continuing to serve the drunk, and if you put your foot down you better have another job lined up already because your butt will get sacked.

Airport bars in particular tend to not give a rat's rear how falling down drunk the customers get figuring they'll be eventually stumbling onto a plane and let the aircraft crew deal with them. The most falling down drunk people I've ever seen in my life were drinking in an airport bar. Literally falling sideways out of their bar stools. You could piss in a Collins glass, drop the oldest most wrinkled and dry bit of something that was some sort of fruit in a past life and they'd smack their slobbering lips and say...

"Thhhath thhe bethhh Marthhhini I'zzzz evvvvvrrrrrr had-duh {belch}."

yeah, I'd say you need to say more.

If the bystanders -- especially the cowboy -- had ignored the boob and let his drunken attack continue, it would have been easy to extrapolate from the event to the entire population of the State of Texas. But, holy crow, they were on the idiot and had him to the ground in a DFW second. The boob is, indeed, hateful, racist, ignorant. And, when he gets out of jail, he'll likely be touted as a hometown hero by his bro's and ho's. But what the video shows is that, at least in this one significant instance, the good folks far outnumber the boobs, even in Texas! (And some of them good folks, btw, are probably of the RW persuasion -- go figure.)

But I get where you're com in' from. Any State that can elect and re-elect a dim bulb like Rick Perry (about whom it has been said that "unlike GWB who likes to play act at being stupid, Rick Perry is the genuine article&quot paraphrasing Molly Ivins there. ) has to make an intelligent person wonder what in hell they put in the water down there.
