A short trip through the real world

I was out in Los Angeles this week and while heading home out of LAX, I didn’t see anyone wearing a hazmat suit or a surgical mask. Nor did I see anyone frantically looking about to see if someone from ISIS was preparing to pounce on them and behead them. It’s possible I passed people from six continents, but I saw no one who was (visibly) in a panicked frenzy over Ebola or terrorism.

It was good to spend a few days away from the media’s noise/fear/propaganda machine. And it was especially nice to escape from the never ending political smear commercials straight out of rancid sewers.

I should also mention I didn’t take along a laptop. And that means I didn’t get to read about the world’s ills, or anyone’s opinion of the world’s ills. (I haven’t yet caved in to a smart phone. I use my old cell.) I guess it was an “ignorance is bliss” week.

In short, it was a healthy trip through the real world. On the other hand, it may have been an escape from the real world. Either way, I feel an enhancement to my well being and my grey matter is still doing a happy dance.

Most of the elections in Los Angeles and Orange County are local elections, and of course the state proposition system are what's at stake. So things are much saner here than the rest of the country.
