Wealthy, Sleazy "Charleston Good Ole Boy," Tom Ravenel Challenges Lindsay Graham for US Senate

You Cannot Make this Stuff UP! And the worst of it is....he might win because "the Crazy" rules in Politics these days....and it's South Carolina.

There's a better Dem Candidate Running...Hope he Wins because Ravenel might might draw votes from Graham.

The haters may hate Southern Charm, but Thomas Ravenel has come out on top
The Triumph of T-Rav
By Stephanie Barn

Since the first episode of Southern Charm ran, the City Paper's Stephanie Barna has been right there in front of a TV. And over the course of the show's run, she wrote one snarky recap after another — much to our delight.

From the very beginning, Barna saw that the main focal point of the show would be Thomas Ravenel, which shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone. Ravenel was not only the only Chucktown native on the show, he was the only "character' with a compelling backstory: the scion of an old Charleston family who was elected to a statewide office but who fell from grace when he was arrested for cocaine possession. That arrest was followed by a conviction and later prison time, a threat to renounce his U.S. citizenship, rumors of an out-of-wedlock pregnancy, and, finally, an unfulfilled wish to buy the City Paper, fire us all, and spank our dear editor on her behind.

The way T-Rav sees it, he was arrested because of those stupid drug laws and not because he was a reckless drug addict throwing raging coke parties while he was state treasurer. He may have kicked his habit, as Whitney is clear to point out, but he still likes the smell of coke, you know.

T-Rav, the 50-year-old Peter Pan, serves as the ultimate example of where the younger guys on the show will end up if they don't get their shit together. Desperate to mate, he's on a diabolical hunt for a lady ready to procreate. As for Kathryn, the youngster his buddy Will Folks wants him to mate with? Too immature for him. But, of course, he means too young because surely this 22-year-old is his match when it comes to maturity.

Fast forward to JD's, and T-Rav is all charm and smarm, kissing babies and proclaiming his desire to procreate. "Find me the right woman, and I'm ready to impregnate her right now!" — I don't know about you but that might not be the right thing to say when trying to ensnare a woman. Oblivious to Danni's cues, T-Rav walks her to the car, grabs her from behind, and tries to lay a kiss on her. She protests. He says, "I thought we had a moment." She says, "Oh God," and then drives away. T-Rav is left deflated, muttering, "I blew it," and wondering how he misread that whole situation.

Thomas' biological clock continues to tick so loudly we can hear it all the way from Church Street to the top of the Ravenel Bridge. He and JD discuss ovulating and how to go about getting a girl pregnant. A leitmotif emerges.

Jenna throws a party and half of gay Charleston shows up. T-Rav is "in the cups" (ie. shit-faced) and finds his dreams coming true when Kathryn arrives (with — here's some foreshadowing — Whitney) and tells him she's two weeks late and might be pregnant because they had unprotected sex. She also boinked Shep, so there's that.

"Southern Charm’s" Thomas Ravenel running for US Senate, releases new ad
Sep, 22, 2014 |

Earlier this year, Bravo brought us "Southern Charm", a reality show following the lives of Charleston, South Carolina’s elite. The show introduced us to a variety of characters including Thomas Ravenel. Not only does Thomas have a famous last name being the son of a Congressman, he also made for some pretty entertaining TV when he set out on a quest to settle down, find a wife, and run for political office. But, not before stirring up some drama first!

Initially we saw Thomas unsuccessfully peruse Danni Baird. When that didn’t work out, he quickly moved on to 22-year-old model Kathryn Dennis. Throughout the season, we saw Kathryn engage in “relations” with many of the cast members before finally ending up with Thomas and finishing the season with an unexpected pregnancy scare.

Since filming ended, the couple has continued their relationship, welcomed a daughter (Kensington born on March 24), and decided that Thomas will officially run for Senate as an Independent Conservative.

Thomas’s campaign is well underway as is filming for Southern Charm season 2. Despite starring in the reality show, Thomas maintains he’s serious about the potential Senate spot and making a difference for the people of Charleston. In fact, he just released a new political ad.

So, if you are a South Carolina resident who is willing to consider a candidate with a rocky past, who has starred in a reality TV show, and had a baby out of wedlock with a woman 29 years younger, then Thomas Ravenel wants your vote!

Thomas Ravenel has a Jokey New TV Ad To Go Along With Reality TV Campaign

Troll hard, T-Rav
Posted by Sam Spence on Tue, Sep 16, 2014 at 1:42 PM

Seven weeks from today, Thomas Ravenel wants you to give him the thumbs-up for his indie bid for the U.S. Senate. But for now, he's got a TV ad to do it for him.

In an ad posted on YouTube today, Ravenel delivers a tried-and-true "outsider" voiceover over a slo-mo montage of smiling people giving the viewer the thumbs up. He plays it straight through out most of the ad until suddenly he asks, "Do these people even know they're in slow motion?" Cue the laugh track.

From the time he entered the race, TV T-Rav has tried to deflect criticism that he's unfit for public office, and so far he has run a seemingly reputable campaign with signs and campaign events and everything. However, this is a guy who served time in the federal pen and then got a bubble gum reality show and announced his petition campaign for the U.S. Senate live on Bravo.

Ravenel reportedly has other campaign ads in the can as well, according to a post yesterday on FitsNews.com that has since been taken down. Today's spot isn't the jokey ad Folks mentioned on Monday featuring T-Rav and his Southern Charm co-star Whitney Sudler-Smith scoping out women (sounds hilarious). And it's not the apparently folksy family ad Sic Willie said was in the hopper ready to be released.

Before Southern Charm, Folks' site was the go-to place for the latest T-Rav news, and Folks appeared in several episodes of the show as Ravenel's political confidante. But reports in August first indicated that Ravenel had hired a Bravo-recruited campaign manager to guide his Senate run. Meanwhile Southern Charm producer Sudler-Smith posted a tweet today saying that he and a L.A. editor handled production of the new ad. Together, these two tidbits may help explain some of the confusion over which ad would drop this week. As it stands now, it appears that T-Rav's outsider campaign may be in the hands of Hollywood.

"Southern Charm" is currently filming its second season in Charleston, but an air date has not been released. Election day is November 4.

The Democratic Candidate Hutto might be able to pull out a win because the scandal with Speaker Bobby Harrell who was just forced to resign has focused attention Republican Scandal, Bribery and Judicial Tampering in the whole SC State Legislature.

Of course it's still SC and even Republican Mark Sanford who just ditched the woman he rand off to have an adulterous relationship in Argentina (while he was SC Governor) is running again...so one never knows. Republicans have no shame.

I had to dig a little but this dude is bad news, but has a slick persona:

Bad news:

Assault on a woman, harassment and threats, can't spell "government" in his ads.
