Well first he built some kind of doomsday Prepper compound in Texas. So the car radio is always on the only local talk radio station, which is the full wingnut line-up, and errand running time is all I allot to monitoring the wingnuts, and I hadn't been out during the BecKKK time slot in a long time, so after the intro with (for some reason: ) a British accented speaker who touted a ripoff of Orson WELLS's "Mercury" tag word, this song opened up and I'm a sucker for very hook-pop stuff and did the internet digging and turned up this songwriter who apparently has been commissioned by the BecKKK.
So I ran through my first impressions, thinking "commercial" and "sell out" and "selling oneself," yet eventually arrived at the thought that selling (oneself?!1) is an age old component of "artists" -- SHAKESPEARE had patrons, Michaelangelo.
I'm not naming here, not to give overtly easy publicity, but my normally default ideological judging was a tiny bit suspended because of the artists-are-sellouts thought and that the kid on his FB keeps wingnuttiness out of his self-promotion, except to be blown away by having made a business deal with a patron.

Wrote this song specifically for Glenn Beck's "Man in the Moon" event. What started out as just a job, left me with one of my favorite songs yet. So I hope you enjoy my new single
Working Away. I have a lot of exciting things coming, from a YouTube Channel release, to new website and social media designs, to the "Man in the Moon" event with Glenn Beck, and now possibly the Voice. Life's good! Crazy, but good!

(19,537 posts)I guess that Glen doesn't want the same messes that Limpbaugh got in to for his "Ohio" "My City Was Gone" battles with Chrissy Hynde and the Pretenders for his "theme song".

And other musicians have complained about Rush too...

including Rush too!

I guess Beck feels if he "owns" what is produced for him, he won't get in these battles. Too many liberal musicians I guess!

(503 posts)Peter Gabriel demanded that Rash Limburger cease playing "Sledgehammer" which he used as the theme song for his misogynistic and hateful rant against Sandra Fluke.
I have always said that the way to tell Rush from Rush is that only one has a spirit of radio that includes Free Will.
