South Korea to seek death penalty for ferry boat captain

I didn't realize it was still legal there so I looked it up and per Wikipedia they are been no executions there since 1997 and proposals to ban it are being considered, but maybe too late for this guy........

"Death penalty for murder.[126] There has been an unofficial moratorium on executions since President Kim Dae-jung took office in February 1998.[127] Three bills to abolish the death penalty are currently awaiting consideration by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee in South Korea's National Assembly."
